Chapter 8 - Bathall, The Royal Captain

It's a cold, dry, barren day, marred only by the clash of swords and spears of swords and spears clashing.

It's the day of the battle.

The sun is blocked out from the mist produced from the city, leaving the battle to be covered in a shadowy mist.

Blood is splattering across the field in front of the city, humans and vampires alike are screaming and yelling their cries of war.

Cassiel is in the fields, fighting, ripping enemies apart, tearing limbs from bodies and using them as weapons, not forming his own blade for the sake of making the battle harder for himself.

He continues to dismember and destroy the humans, leaving a trail of blood and gore behind.

His elite guards try their best to keep up, only to be left behind fighting for their own lives against the overwhelming quantity of enemies.

The fight is a hard 3:1 in numbers, in favor of the humans.

.....

.....

"My king! Please, save us!" Cilc, one of Cassiel's soldiers, screams out to him as he's seen moments later impaled by two different spears straight through his body.

"WEAK! ALL OF YOU ARE WEAK!" Cassiel yells out maniacally, leaving his dead soldier behind.

He'd then continue to bash in human skulls, leaving a trail of corpses, which in turn causes the humans to start moving and fighting away from him, leaving only some to be met by Cassiel's strength, before finally, he's stopped.

A man in full golden clad set of armor stands in Cassiel's way, stopping his fist with his shield.

"Does killing those weaker than you make you feel good, you disgusting vampire scum?" Bathall says, pushing Cassiel back with his shield.

"Finally, someone worth fighting. Come, boy, give me the fight I've been waiting for." Cassiel says, smiling while others' blood drips down his face.

"I'll kill you, for the sake of my soldiers. Prepare for your last battle, fiend." Bathall says, charging at Cassiel shield first.

"YES! YOUR CONFIDENCE IS MAGNIFICENT!" Cassiel says, dashing forwards at Bathall.

As they clash, the ground beneath them breaks away, which causes dirt to fly everywhere as Bathall gets pushed back a couple of feet.

The sheer bloodlust coming off of each of them has every human soldier around them stay away, leaving a big circle in the army as the two continue to fight.

Blow after blow, Bathall is barely managing to catch up as Cassiel continues to punch away at him.

"I thought you were stronger than this." Cassiel says as his smile slowly fades away.

"Get out of my way, I want to fight Falvi once more."

As soon as Cassiel says this, it snaps a chain in Bathall's body, letting all of his rage pour out, making Cassiel fly back, hitting the ground before flipping back up.

"DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU, DAMN YOU, DAMN YOU! I'M TIRED OF BEING COMPARED TO THAT STUCK UP BRAT!" Bathall says, swinging his hammer into the ground which causes a small area of the ground to burst up, exploding violently straight towards Cassiel.

"This is what I've been waiting for." Cassiel says, disappearing from the spot he was just at and reappearing above Bathall, dropping down on his back, causing Bathall to fall onto the ground as Cassiel begins bashing his head in.

Blow after blow, Cassiel continues whacking away at his head. The sounds of impact ring across the battlefield, causing some of the soldiers to turn and watch as their captain gets demolished hit by hit.

"WHERE IS IT BOY?! WHERE IS THE RAGE! SHOW IT TO ME!" Cassiel says, laughing like a crazy man as he continues swinging.

.....

.....

After a minute of straight swinging and battering on Bathall, Cassiel finally stops, looking up and around at the faces of all the soldiers watching, taking in all the fear falling off of them.

As he gets up, the soldiers back off a little, scared of being left in a crater like Bathall, but before turning tail and running, they hear cries out from behind them.

The humans are being pushed back by the vampires.

Since most of the soldiers got distracted by Cassiel, it left the humans still fighting to be left and forgotten, leaving no one to fill their dead spots, which allowed the vampires to slowly gain ground as they soon had the numbers advantage against the ones they were currently fighting.

The humans, after seeing their comrades die one after another after just losing their captain, decide upon themselves that escape is not an option as they charge back into battle, going after Cassiel and the other vampires all together.

"At least your soldiers were loyal..." Cassiel says frowning, picking up Bathall's body.

"Although you were weak, you were a true warrior, and a true leader. Your blood should do fine in replenishing some of my lost power."

Cassiel sank his teeth into Bathall's now dead body, sucking the life force from it, draining every ounce down to the last drop, leaving his body empty of any blood.

"I feel... rejuvenated..." Cassiel looks at himself, surprised how much of a change Bathall made.

"Am I really that weak right now..? Damn it all, I suppose I'll have to take all these humans' blood as well." Cassiel would say, as he puts his hand out, grabbing a blade swinging down on him.

"I'll start with you." He says, looking straight into the soldiers eyes, as if he was staring down his very soul.
