Chapter 10 - Piece 4 (part 3)

"Mel--"

"Let him." Grandma suddenly stopped Mom from trying to stop Dad, who is already going forth with what he is going to do. I'm far too oblivious of what is happening, but I know what is going on is nothing I should know about.

This feels… wrong…!

" 'Hollow Death, promise of no return. I, Scion of The God of Death, Melvin Bond Veldonia, swear to never leave the side of my daughter, Vermillis Veldonia.' "

The air around us turned ten times colder. A bright dark blue light appeared from around his body, and multiple strands of the blue light began to fly out of Dad's chest. Seeing what was happening, Mom truly wanted to stop it, but it wasn't until Grandma stepped ahead to do it first.

PLAKKK!!!!!!

All of a sudden, a slap landed on Dad's face.

The swearing ritual was cancelled, and all the blue lights disappeared. Dad's body no longer glows bright, and the only thing glowing about him is his red hot cheek under his right eye.

Dad opened his eyes again, but it was unfortunate timing because another hand was already flying to his face.

PLAKK!!!!!

Grandma has once again slapped Dad in the face, and the poor guy had no way of protecting himself.

Grandma's hands then turned into a fist, and she started landing much heavier hits onto Dad's face. As the slaps turned into punches, Dad began to fall on the ground, and the attacks started to switch weapons into her feet.

As Grandma kicked Dad on the ground, Mom only started running towards me. She leaned in front of me with a soft smile, and I realized that everything so far has been the way things just have to go.

"We're all right, Milly. You never have to worry about anything." Mom said to me softly to try and calm me down, and it seemed like I was really worried for nothing.

"Come back here! I'm not done with you!" Grandma shouted, and Mom smiled before her face turned into concern again.

After the beating was done, Mom and Dad then sat on one of the diner chairs. Dad's face looked completely beaten up, while Mom was just silently giggling at Dad's ugly face. Meanwhile, Grandma took a while before coming back with an item in her hands.

"It's a letter from Althorn. Read it." Grandma said as she sat on the chair opposite of Mom and Dad, right next to me. Mom picked the letter up because Dad is a little too bruised up to be reading letters.

Her eyes grew wider as soon as she read them, and she turned her gaze back to Grandma.

"S-So, the culprit is--"

"Yes. Your war from ten years ago isn't finished." Grandma said while cleaning her glasses, and it seems like it got slightly wet when she cried earlier.

Mom turned the letter to Dad, and since one of Dad's eyes was bruised, he had to read it with his other eye. And right after he read it, he let out a sigh and placed the letter down on the table.

"Thank you… Lady Estella. Without you, I can only imagine how things could've been with Milly." Dad said after reading the letter, and I noticed it must've been something very serious.

"Naturally. She is like my own daughter now. Way more like my daughter than the other older one." Grandma said with her eyes staring at Mom, and Mom only scratches her ear.

"So, everything is… alright?" Seeing that some of the attention has turned to me, I figured it was all right if I ask. Surprisingly, things are much lighter than I imagined.

"No, nothing's all right. These two are the leaders of an empire, and now they're going to live as commoners?? You're lucky you were two years old when you started living in Cytus." Grandma pointed out the biggest issue going forward, but really, that wasn't such a big issue that I was expecting.

"I mean.…between you and Mom and Dad…"

"We're fine, honey. This is just your grandma's way of doing things." Mom said to me softly, and I turned to look at Grandma's face. She looks rather annoyed still, but she must definitely be so happy to see Mom and Dad again.

Dad, on the other hand, got completely beaten up for nothing.

"I suggest a different grandma than this abomination--"

"Do you wanna die, brat?"

Things are working out quite nicely. It was one of the most memorable moments in my life, even though one of the two strongest entities on the continent got completely battered.

Despite that, it was still the day that I remembered the most. My twelfth birthday, the time when everyone is finally around me.

I have my mom and dad, and I have my grandma. I also have everybody else around me like Uncle John, and everything has only been going towards a better direction since then.

"Millis. How long are you going to keep writing?"

A voice called behind me after the door was opened, and I turned around to find a tall golden haired man wearing a butler's attire. I realized that I've been writing for far too long, and I decided to put my pen down and close the diary.

"Sorry, Harry. I got too deep into the writing."

"Everyone is waiting. The people outside cannot wait to see you any longer."

"Yeah. I guess it's about time, after all."

I stood up from my chair and picked up the diary alongside me. I straightened the bright red ruler's clothing that I'm wearing to make sure that I still look proper and mighty. Once I'm sure I looked pretty enough, I turned around to exit the room.

The golden haired butler kept the door open as I exited my bedroom, and he closed the door as he followed behind me.

Arriving at a large grandiose lobby filled with golden ornaments and furniture, I noticed every single person here was familiar. They are the people who I wanted to be next to me, and they will continue to stand beside me.

"Morning, your majesty. The people are waiting."

A knight wearing dark armor bowed right in front of me, and I smiled seeing him looking so good.

"Nice armor, Uncle John. Or should I call you 'General John', now?" I said jokingly to the man who has watched me grow up, but the knight turned carriage driver turned knight general kept his head down towards me.

"Your majesty, please. We're at an important moment--"

"Yes, I know. How many people are there?"

"Grand Mage Arlene counted around ten thousand people. The front yard couldn't handle all of them, and there are quite a few who are on the northern main street."

"Geez… I guess that's what curiosity brought to my charisma, huh?"

"More than that. It's anticipation." General John lifted his head up with a confident smile, and I chuckled seeing him so relaxed.

He looks so much younger now that he wears makeup, and I do recall him being a lot younger than this when I first met him. We really have known each other for so long, huh?

"General, please. We're at an important moment--"

"I didn't say anything!"

A small amount of laughter can be heard from the whole lobby. After chatting for a bit, I decided that now is indeed the time to be making my appearance.

"All right, then. Time to start for real." I said confidently as I stepped forward, and my feet marched towards the opened door that was in front of me.

A maid stood right by the door with her hands holding a beautiful white crown. Another maid walked over and carefully picked up the crown to place it on my head, and I lowered my body a little to let the crown fall into place. Once the crown was on my head, I began exiting the lobby.

A large balcony is placed right outside of the large lobby, over ten meters up from the ground. I can hear just how loud it is from up here, and it didn't really take me long until I could see the sea of people that was waiting for me down there.

In front of the grand castle, thousands of people await my presence. All of them came from far away, some of them have already been in this place for a while, others have been waiting for a very long time.

Wait no longer, for the time has come.

The people cheered as I stepped into the balcony, and I realized just how much of Uncle John's words were true. What brought them here wasn't just curiosity, it was anticipation. Hope.

Hope for a better life. Hope for a better future. Hope for the return of what was once the greatest nation in the whole continent.

And I am that hope.

"People of the Veldonia Empire!!!"

My voice, enchanted with the sound enhancing magic, was heard throughout the entire empire. Not just the people at the field, but to the entire capital city that took so long to rebuild.

Everyone stopped cheering after hearing my voice. Their desire to finally see me has been delivered, and now they get to hear my voice.

And soon, they will feel the pride of existing in a country led by me.

"Heeyyyy, Millyyyyy…... Goood mooorrrnniinnngggg..."

The sound of a dad was heard right next to me as I opened my eyes, and I realized that two people are currently staring straight into my sleeping face.

Huh…? What was I dreaming about, just now…?

"Wake up, Milly. You have to go to school." Mom reminded me on my left, and I realized what position I am in currently.

We all slept in the same bed last night because Mom and Dad wanted to sleep alongside me at night. They did mention that I used to sleep with them starting from when I was a year old, which must've been really nice.

But, I'm a lot larger now. Sleeping with them on this tiny bed is suffocating as heck.

"Can you two get off my bed, please…? It's so hot."

"Blame your grandma for not getting air conditioning. Also, why is your bed so small…? This bedroom is small. No, the house is small. Why do we have a gigantic diner in front of the house, anyway!?"

Dad really did not stop with the complaining, and Mom slapped him on the head.

"Shut up. Milly has to go to school." Mom reminded, and I quickly remembered my duties as a student.

"What if I just skipped school…?" I suggested, but the two of them shook their heads.

Oh dear… Well, at least I won't have to miss them anymore.

My god, my parents actually came back to life. Spending time alone at school is gonna be miserable as heck!!!
