Chapter 74 - Chapter 59 - Tribulation

CHAPTER 59 - TRIBULATION

After the insane speech I had given, a certain someone had pulled me away from the stage without many people noticing it. And now I reside here…

Yet, somehow I don't entirely hate it. The opposite in fact, it was a spot where I could relax after saying something embarrassing like that in front of what seemed to be a thousand people.

The place was alive with the green that surrounded it, the luxury seats along with the snacks that were top tier delicious, even the tea was amazing.

"You seem to be enjoying our tea party this time."

"Cough! Cough! I-I'm sorry if it seems like that Kathyln." I barely managed to say, holding in one more cough before it pushed through against my will and left my lungs.

Finally I was able to stop coughing. "I've just been having a rough week."

"Yes, I know, Mister Guardian." She formed a small smile that caught me by surprise if I were to be honest. Kathyln Glayder was never someone to show emotions so clearly but more importantly things that matter little. "Maybe this role like mine will have us busy for who knows how long. So let us appreciate it, perhaps this might be the last time we get to see each other without any rush."

"Yeah, you are right. Any suggestions?" I got up from the chair and held my hand for her as a support.

Kathyln took my hand, "Hm. how about we just go where the wind takes us?"

I chuckled. "I like the sound of that."

***

It had been two weeks since my announcement as the Guardian.

I walked in the DC room, no one was here. It was specious enough to refuge a hundredth people if there was a possibility of war.

While I stared around for a little longer, I sensed a mana signature which I haven't felt ever since the stage announcement. I slightly turned to the owner, and met a frail, tall and lean frame. His hair was light gray and his eyes were narrow slits. The most annoying part? His mocking smile.

"Well what do we have here? What does the Great Guardian of Xyrus Academy need from DC?" He said.

I slightly tilted my head, acting like I didn't know the answer to his question. "I don't know what you are talking about."

The end of his mocking smile twitched. "Acting fool, are we? Well you should know that Blood doesn't lie."

That is what I was waiting for.

"Blood doesn't lie, huh? Satisfactorily, your blood has no influence over me. Moreover, there is and won't be a blood that can order a Scythe." My voice now filled with the hiss of a viper and anger. I needed to let this bastard know that I was a Scythe, a newly appointed Scythe, and I was here on orders of Agrona. "Or am I wrong?"

His expression changed, killing his idiotic smile and overwriting it with fear. But there were still some loose ends. To seal and burn those ends, I needed something strong as evidence.

Right…!

In my dimension ring, I pulled out another ring. It belongs to the person who I detested the most in this world. When I took it out and showed it to Kai, it had solidified the reasoning for my status as a Scythe.

"T-That's…!"

"It is Dranevee's ring to ascend as a Retainer, but he didn't follow orders and instead disobeyed them. As a result I took his arm and burned it. And I watched as he desperately tried to reattach it but he was too late." I played with the memories of when I actually took the orange hair alacryan's arm and burned it, his eyes had someone hope for reattachting the arm but it faded when I burned it.

My eyes slowly peeled away from the ring and glared at the fragile boy in front of me. "Do you think I'm lying now boy?"

Kai hesitated, "N-no Sir Scythe!"

I held a hand. "Don't call me that in the open or in private, there might be people hearing us even at this moment. These Dicathens are lesser and weaker compared to us. In private you can call me Scythe Cain."

The boy with light gray hair saluted before almost shouting my fake name. "Yes, Scythe Cain."

"Now, continue with everything you were ordered to. I, on the other hand, have different things to attend to." I said, waving my hand as I walked to the door but stopped before pulling the handle. "And let's keep another thing clear." I released every killing intent I had, or what I thought I could do, and pushed it to the atmosphere around the room, filling it to the brim. "Don't expect me to partake in Dranevee's plan to invade the academy. My orders are to subdue the traitor and that is all. However, don't announce my coming to Dranevee. My stay here is to be kept in the dark, do you understand?"

"Y-yes sir."

"Alright then, nice talking to you Kai! Until next time." I changed my personality to a cheerful one before closing the door, this was to let Kai know that I was on an undercover mission and to not be disturbed.

Or else…

Anyhow he got the memo and will not inform Dranevee who would instantly commence the invasion of the academy. Still…If Dranevee was really here during the first day at the academy, then everything I planned for would go to hell.

Let's just hope it was just a hallucination.

After a small walk to Director Goodsky's office, I notice a man dressed like a hobo walk in with a sly grin.

And before I could even continue to walk to the door, Kathyln was next to walk in.

Wait this is…

CYNTHIA GOODSKY

*Knock* *Knock*

"Please come in." I stated. At least this person had the decency to knock.

"I apologize for the intrusion, Director." The petite Kathyln gave me a small bow before walking up next to the, now pale faced, Professor.

"What's the matter, Kathyln?" I leaned forward, taking a look at the both of them.

"This sorry excuse for a Professor needs to be expelled." She said, expressionlessly.

Professor Geist grabbed Kathyln by the arm, pulling her closer to him. "HOW DARE YOU! Sorry excuse? Me?"

"You dare to touch me with your filthy hand?" Her expression doesn't change, as she somehow seemed to be looking down at Professor Geist.

"And what are you going to do? HUH?" The Professor remarked with his brows forward in anger.

I stood up at this point, ready to say something when the wind stirred up in the room. Sensing a familiar mana signature, I yelled, "you must calm down–"

"Let her go, if you love your hand and wish to not lose it." A sharp distinct voice said.

"W-What are you doing boy?" The grown man stuttered to let those words out. This time he let go of Kathyln but the boy in pure white and gold didn't let his sword stray from the Professor's neck. "Do you know where you are pointing your weapon at? This is breaking several rules of this academy–"

"You should shut up, because last time I read, touching a Princess with hostility and without consent would mean your execution. So let me do you the favor and skip all of that investigation and end your miserable life here." Luke let out a strong hostility towards the Professor.

Professor Geist had his eyes widened before he remembered I was there. "Director Goodsky, come on, tell the boy that he is wrong and is breaking the rules."

"Luke." The Princess softly said.

I noticed her tension faced release into what seemed to be relief. Or maybe it is my years already getting to me.

Geist got tired of waiting for an answer and decided to expel his weapon from his dimension ring. While that happened, Luke gave me a stare and I knew what it meant. Of course this was going to be an irritating dilemma to deal with after words but he seems to be into the Guardian role like I expected him to be.

I nodded. And instantly, Professor Geist swung his sword forward to 'scare' Luke but he effortlessly deflected the blade with his hands. Despite being a light yellow class veteran Augmenter. The only reason why he was hired was because of his insight with the fire element.

The light yellow class veteran continued to swing his sword like a child throwing a tantrum, Luke on the other hand, just dodged them until he was getting closer to Kathyln. Professor Geist seemed to know Luke's weakness and decided to try and exploit it but he was slow.

His hand tried once more to grab the Princess but was inches away and soon, from the wrist up, his hand just floated like there was no gravity. The grin that was written on his face, spelling out, I've won. Quickly faded into the void and was instead replaced by the agony of losing his hand, ending this 'duel' in an easy feat.

Luke's crimson eyes just stared at the defenseless man, on his knees, crying about the pain being unbearable.

That is when Luke calmed down his hostility towards the Professor, putting away the black void sword that was covered in the same color that his eyes reflected. The Guardian then turned to face me in a worried way.

"I trust your judgment, Guardian. There is no need to worry about disciplining a rogue Professor." I announced before heading towards Kathyln. "I have not yet heard of any rumors. Do you mind indulging me Kathyln?"

"This scum dares to pick on students to feel good about himself. Even ignoring the fact that he utterly humiliated Feyrith, if Arthur didn't step in, I would've…" Without finishing her last sentence, she glares at the professor.

With the little strength the Professor had, he said, "I-I'm t-telling you… it was a m-misunderstanding… I just wanted to…show…the Disciplina…ry… Commit…tee."

Tired of his whining and split words, Luke chantlessly ignited a green orb about his left palm before healing his injury. The crimson blood stopped flowing and Professor Geist started to look less pale.

"This is the max I can do before I behead you where you stand for harassing the Princess." Luke's tone became colder than before, this time I could tell he wasn't joking.

"If that was simple what this was, then there would be no reason for you to come into my room and insist that Arthur be removed from your class." I couldn't help but sigh internally at the thought of handling this dilemma.

"Tricia, please gather information for me about Professor Geist's class regarding this incident." My secretary bowed before running off.

"Now, please be patient as this is figured out. I will do my best to be just about this." Before I'm able to dismiss the three of them, Princess Kathyln walked up to me.

"I trust that you will handle this fairly, but just know that, if it wasn't for Arthur, you wouldn't be handling this Professor's ethics case but a Student's injury case, My injury case. I bid you good day, Director." She turned around, completely ignoring Professor Geist, who was taken aback by her last statement.

Grabbing the Guardian's hand, Kathyln left and closed the door behind. The only thing I was able to decrypt was how Luke's eyes still looked at me with concern and unknown eyes.
