Listening to Jessi's explanation, Bao Zhentian, Luo Shenghua, and Adity stood in stunned shock. They never imagined that such terrible disaster would descend.
Bao Zhentian's expression suddenly turned grim. He tried to reach out to the sect backing him, but failed. Before, some cultivators could still maintain contact with the outside world through secret methods. Now, all connections were severed. It was as if an invisible hand had blocked every path.
Cold sweat formed on Adity's forehead as her gaze wandered outside. The tall mountains, hidden tunnels, and vast plains were infested with countless squirming black monsters of varying size and form. Among them, she caught sight of a black giant. It was so tall that even from afar, its upper body could not be seen.
"Crap, i shouldn't have entered this hell…! This is like dark fantasy stories i've read in my hometown." She felt extremely bitter inside. "This is like the dark fantasy stories I once read back home. If only I had known this world was so twisted… "
Luo Shenghua was like a statue. Her hands and feet were turning cold.
Then, a dazzling light shone. A few hundred cultivators were suddenly teleported onto the platform. These were the ones who had gone to take the trial earlier but now because of Li Shenrong's interference they had been teleported outside. All of them had shocked and fearful expressions.
Without warning, several terrifying figures descended near the Dao platform. Each of them radiated an aura so vast it made heaven and earth quiver. After a careful look one could tell that they were from different camp.
"Girl, come with me." A fat looking man beckoned to Jessi. He stood in air looking down on everything.
"Humph, she'll go with me. Don't even think about it." A burly man who had an axe behind his back spoke. His expression was fierce.
A woman wearing lavender dress stepped in, "Gentlemen, these are troubled times. Why don't we let her decide whom she wishes to follow?" Her voice was melodious and powerful.
The others paused, then nodded in agreement.
L
At that moment, the anxious voice of the system echoed in Jessi's mind.
[Oh no! They are Godkings!]
"What Godking…!" Jessi's mind turned blank. She had been chased by Gods before, and now bigger whales sprung in action.
"Didn't you say they cannot detect you? How could…" Jessi said angrily, she almost wanted to scold the stupid system for being so unreliable.
[Don't blame me. They are different…ah] The system spoke, its voice was filled with bitterness and shame.
"What should i do?" She asked.
[Try to buy time, the threads of cause and effect are in chaos here. They won't dare to act recklessly.]
"Why don't you speak little girl? Don't think that we don't know what that spirit told you…" the woman chuckled lightly.
Everyone inside the Dao platform were looking at the scene with confusion.
A young man suddenly stepped forward, cupping his fists respectfully. "Seniors, I am from the Fragrant Heaven Sect. My master is Lord Xu Hao. The situation outside is dire. On behalf of all present, I beseech you to lend us your aid."
The Godkings ignored him but the burly man with a huge axe behind his back sneered. "What Xu Hao? Ants are all the same. Names are meaningless."
The young man's face instantly turned ugly as a pigs butt. He wanted to retort but he knew that they were extremely powerful and couldn't be offended. So he stayed silent.
Godkings were reclusive being, they are like myths in the outside world. If the young man knew they were Godkings he wouldn't have dared to step out at all.
Jessi's palm was sweaty. She wanted to run away but where to?
"Senior…I…" Bao Zhentian wanted to speak but the beautiful woman casted a glance on him. With just one glance he felt a searing pain in his soul. An overwhelming amount of fear started gnawing at his heart.
The beautiful woman withdrew her eyes indifferently and the pressure on him vanished.
Bao Zhentian's breathing turned ragged, his heart was pounding heavily. Luo Shenghua hurriedly helped him keep standing. "Junior brother..!"
"I will go with you… but i can't decide who because i don't know any of you." Jessi suddenly said.
"Clever tricks, but foolish. Did you think such little schemes would work against us?" The woman smiled faintly. Then she turned her head toward others and spoke. "Everyone, we should take this girl with us first then decide who she should go with. Is that acceptable?" Her voice couldn't be heard by people below.
The fat man agreed, "I have no objection to fairy's suggestion."
The others nodded as well.
"Then it's decided." She turned her head to Jessi saying, "Little girl, your tricks are useless."
Jessi suddenly panicked. No matter what kind of trump cards or tricks she had, in front of absolute power everything is meaningless.
The woman raised her hand, her Qi condensing into a massive spectral palm that reached down. Instantly, Jessi's body felt trapped in a quagmire, unable to move even a finger.
"Bullying the weak as always i see…" An ethereal voice reverberated through the sky. The Qi hand shattered instantly, dispersing into harmless mist.
Everyone looked at the speaker and saw a young man in imperial robe stood in the sky. Behind him were few figures standing silently.
Seeing him, the woman's pupil shrank slightly. "You…. So you are here as well…" she was quite shocked. Didn't expect the man to be here.
Both sides fell into a deadlock. In front of the young man in imperial robe they couldn't take action and vice versa.
"What if we must take her?" The burly man said, his tone was fierce.
The young man smiled and replied. "Then you have to ask my sword."
The two flew higher in the sky, exchanging blows. The cultivators on the ground could see a grand display of fireworks. The residual energies from their fight spread in directions, countless abominations were destroyed in the process.
Suddenly, a colossal abomination slammed its tentacles at them. The duo stopped their battle instantly.
"Looks like we've attracted a troublesome fellow." The young man glanced at the abomination which seemed taller than the heavens.
For a while the duo was being targeted by several God level abomination.
[Did you see, that's why i told you to buy time. When the cause and effects are in chaos, fate couldn't display its power. Even mighty figures would suffer disaster.] the system's voice sounded.
"Does the changes of cause and effect have something to do with the curse?"
[I don't know.] Jessi rolled her eyes. "Then what do you know…"
…
Liam was being carried by an old man wearing silk robe. The old man was a God. When he was fighting the abominations he had noticed Liam hiding pitifully, and out of passing kindness, chose to take the boy with him.
"Kid what's your name? Where are you from?" The old man asked.
Liam casually made up a lie and answered.
"Are you sure the monsters are afraid of the dao portals?" The old man asked as he flew.
"Senior, i am certain."
"Alright."
When Liam reached the nearest the dao portal, he could only say, "What..?!!"
The dao portal was filled with abomination as well.
"How is this possible…!" He asked the system.
[Something is wrong with the portals….search for another one.] it said.
Thankfully the old man didn't get angry. He calmly took turn, moving toward another alter.
They passed by five dao portals and all of them were the same.
The system's voice was grave. [Everything seems out of control…]
The old man flew in another direction. And finally they saw a few cultivators were resting on the dao portal's plaform. There were some god level figure among them as well. The abominations were avoiding the platform.
Liam sighed in relief.
He landed along the old man and leaned his body against a stone statue. His body has reached its limit.
