Chapter 29 - Chapter 29

"What is it, Cami?" Reva asked her as she appeared before him in a rush.

"Something massive just happened," she told him.

"What did Page do this time?" he asked.

Although the girl was loyal to him, that did not mean she did not cause him problems nonetheless. They were never anything that serious, though barely going beyond just various kinds of pranks that often got her into trouble with Carter's mom for the most part.

"Ummm....hello," Myne said

Reva was looking at this automaton girl that was standing before him, who was abnormally tall for someone her age, which was close to the age that Cami and he were back when they were still human ages ago.

"You are not going to believe this, but I'm trying to guess who she is," Cami told him.

"She is an automaton like us, obviously," he answered.

"About that I am...." Myne started to say before she was interrupted by Cami.

"Come on, isn't it obvious who she is, Reva?" Cami said

As she stood some distance away, waving her arms in a manner that just gave off the impression of 'come out, look at them' towards Reva.

Reva, however, was at a loss since he did not realize what either of them was trying to say, but Cami got him to realize it while also gesturing that Myne was starting to get annoying, so he just gave the order to stop once he felt like he did not want to deal with either of them anymore. Thus, Cami and Myne did as they were ordered to. Without a second thought and without even realizing it was happening to themselves, they shut themselves down, as that was how they both took the order from Reva at that time.

So Cami was now frozen in that pose of her looking annoyed that Reva was getting who Myne was, despite her thinking this should have been a no brainer for him to know this. Though it clearly was not, since unlike her, Myne, and everyone else in this settlement, Reva called his own. He was not subjected to the same things they were when it came to programming. Sighing, he guessed he would just have to eventually go ask someone else who Myne was, as he had not been formally introduced to her yet after all.

Himself, Carter, and Page were the only ones who did not have programming that could change on the fly and make it seem like something they did not know a second ago was always knowledge they possessed without giving it a second thought. He found it interesting that this is how it seemed to work when, other than just being loyal to him alone, they had no other changes done to them mentally.

However, seeing how Cami was reacting to Myne, there was something that he wanted to check out, as he did not want to believe that was the case and was just hoping that he would be wrong and that what he feared would not be present on Myne at all. Reva's hand reaches out, and he then brushes aside the bangs that were covering that part of Myne's forehead.

They were visible for all to see, at least now that her hair was not in the way. It was the arrow that was facing directly downward that caused Reva to make a deep and heavy sigh.

"Seriously, how is this even possible right now?" he exclaimed

As it turns out, the downward pointing arrow on Myne's forehead was a mark that only two others should have, and it only appears when they have been roboticized. Myne might be just some taller then average village girl now. However, in the past, back when the cycle was still working normally, Myne's ancestors were one of the three rulers of the three leaders of the Southern Kingdom for humanity. Once someone from the ruling family was roboticized that mark would appear on their forehead as they would become the driving force in taking over that region of the Southern Kingdom. It was a role that was apparently hardwired into their DNA, it seemed.

Despite all the years that had passed since the cycle had last run properly. That Myne was still bound by the same fate as her ancestor should they be roboticized like she had been. Why this was possible and how it was possible was something that always baffled. Reva, unlike him and the other four heroes(the four of the four directions and then the main hero), those like Myne were always human, truly human from the start. They were not automatons that merely thought they were human but actual ones from the get go. Thus, how the twelve different bloodlines(there were three for each Guardian to acquire) existed was always an unanswered question for him.

Even now, it remained one as Myne was standing before him, now ready to serve her purpose at his side. Though Reva wondered just how much of her dormant ancient programming was actually still present within her in the first place. She was clearly not from one of the families that ruled over the human equivalent of his own domain, at least as it currently existed. That, according to what he was able to pick up, fell into ruin just like his after a while. Carved up between the various remaining forces that have lost their own ways and developed to become what they are currently.

This girl, before him, was nothing more than a mere shadow of what she could have become or even been had her family not fallen into ruins thanks to them being overthrown who knows how many centuries ago now. Though that did not mean this girl might have information that he would find useful for his goal. That being said, just to remain a forgotten and distant legend, nothing more. His primary desire was to just remain in this place that had been created for him by Cami and Page. Depending on what knowledge he could get from her, Myne might be allowed to stay too, as apparently Cami had more knowledge of her than he did from just seeing her like she did.
