The Bodhi tree in the courtyard has been planted, but it's still very small. It will take several years before its branches and leaves become lush and abundant. Yueyao regrets that none of the orchids planted in the back garden survived.
After walking around the courtyard and feeling tired, Yueyao had Xi Yu instruct someone to move the bamboo chair next to the Bodhi tree. Once Yueyao sat down, Xi Yu had someone bring over a table and serve a variety of fruits and pastries.
When Xiang Wei returned, she saw a table full of delicious food, walked up, and bit into a bright red apple: "Not bad, really sweet."
Yueyao stood up and said, "Of course it's sweet; these are royal gifts. They were just bestowed from the palace." Although the Empress Dowager hadn't summoned Yueyao to the palace, she had become kinder to her. The most evident sign was the occasional gifts sent her way.
