"This…" Faced with Long Linger's pressing questions, Stephen was completely stumped. Two clues that had seemed to complement each other perfectly were, upon closer inspection, full of holes.
"Madam, so you mean she was assassinated?"
Long Linger smiled at Stephen. "You're finally showing a bit of brains."
"But… why would anyone assassinate her?" Stephen pressed on.
Long Linger was about to speak, but after thinking it over carefully, she ultimately chose to keep her mouth shut.
She didn't want to reveal her stance so easily.
"How should I know? Isn't that what you people are supposed to investigate?"
"Madam, actually we did look into it, but we've gone through all the surveillance in the prison. Xie Wan stayed in her cell the whole time and never came out."
"Then keep digging. There's always some trace to be found."
"Alright, Madam, I'll look into it again."
