Long Linger was about to lose her mind. The little one had clearly been placed on the bed, and she had only left the bedroom for a little over ten minutes. The room had only one door, and she'd been standing by it the whole time. Where had the child disappeared to? In that instant, Long Linger thought of many possibilities, like someone kidnapping the child.
But she quickly dismissed her thoughts because she heard a rustling sound coming from the sofa. She rushed over and the scene shocked her. On the other side of the sofa, a tiny figure lay on the carpet, clutching a cookie and eagerly gnawing on it, with cookie crumbs mixed with drool smeared all over his little face.
Long Linger let out a sigh of relief, picked the little thing up from the ground, and snatched the cookie from his hand, tossing it onto the table.
