City A.
Xu Ai was exasperated by Tang Ying. Almost everyone in the neighborhood knew Tang Ying. She came to the building's entrance every day to wait for Xu Ai. If Xu Ai avoided her, she would catch Xu Xiaoshu downstairs. If she couldn't catch him, she would tell everyone how Xu Ai was ungrateful, leaving her, an old woman, in a slum with no hot water in the winter or air conditioning in the summer. The home was bare and she was penniless, uncared for, while Xu Ai lived in a mansion with her son, utterly ungrateful. As she spread these stories, Xu Ai's image as a cold and ungrateful person became fixed, and soon everyone knew about it.
When Xu Xiaoshu was playing downstairs, mothers would pull their children away, not letting them play with Xu Xiaoshu.
Xu Ai had called the security room, instructing them to keep Tang Ying out. The security guards felt sorry for Tang Ying and occasionally let her in, making Xu Ai increasingly frustrated and unable to control the situation.
