Lady Li looked up and smiled, "We're all sisters within the same mansion, we should look out for each other."
"If you look out for others, will they look out for you?"
Another woman added, "Exactly, she's now the Prince's favored one. If she truly cared for you, all she needed to do was say a good word for you in front of the Prince, and you'd become his new favorite too. Even your father would be promoted three ranks."
Lady Li's expression shifted. Everyone in the mansion knew her family wasn't well-off. Her father was a minor County Magistrate, without power or influence, and hadn't been promoted in his decade-long career. Her family hoped she could latch onto the Prince as a stepping stone, to lead her father towards a prosperous life.
So, while everyone feared the War Prince, who was ugly as a ghost, she did not. In her heart, having no power or influence was scarier than any ghost.
