Even if this beggar hadn't seen Yang Qiu before, and didn't know what she looked like,
since Wang Kui's warning, he'd made a point of checking out the entrance of the Four Seasons Department Store.
He often lingered around Yang Qiu, to protect her, fearing something might happen and Wang Kui would come knocking.
When he saw Yang Qiu, the beggar scratched his head, wanting to turn and run.
But just then, Yang Qiu, drawing on courage from who knows where, grabbed the beggar's arm and shouted, "Why are you running?"
Once his arm was caught, the beggar was dumbfounded and pleaded, "Oh dear, young lady, I was wrong, please spare me, let me go."
These words left Yang Qiu puzzled. She couldn't understand why this raggedly-dressed beggar was so afraid of her. She asked, "Spare you for what?"
