Elara looked at Lucavion across the open book.
She had heard almost the exact same answer once already, delivered beneath the examination wards while half the hall waited for him to embarrass himself before Magister Selenne. At the time, the blankness in his face had seemed absurd enough that Elara had wondered whether he was performing for the room. Everything that followed had disproved that suspicion. He had understood what happened when mana encountered resistance, recognized that a caster could impose direction upon a flow, and even described several consequences correctly once Selenne translated the question into something practical.
The name itself had reached nothing.
Elara had therefore written the Ley Conduction Principle at the beginning of tonight's lesson deliberately. She wanted to know whether hearing Selenne explain it had left anything behind.
Apparently, it had not.
"You remember being asked this during the oral examination."
