Isolde turned her eyes toward Lucavion.
He had leaned into the narrow space between their chairs without disturbing either desk. One elbow rested against the polished wood, his cheek supported loosely against his knuckles, while the amusement at the corner of his mouth suggested he had merely discovered another opportunity to irritate her.
His timing suggested otherwise.
A moment earlier, Isolde had been studying Elowyn Caerlin's hands.
Her voice had stirred something unpleasant beneath Isolde's ribs, and Lucavion had interrupted precisely when she began searching for whatever detail might explain it.
'Deliberate?'
Perhaps.
She let her expression soften instead.
"Should I be flattered that you have begun monitoring where I look?"
Lucavion's gaze flicked toward the dais.
Elowyn was still speaking with Selenne, tracing the damaged pathways of a spell structure suspended above the examination slate.
Then his eyes returned to Isolde.
