As soon as he hung up this call, the next one came in, leaving him feeling parched.
Two police cars arrived and stopped at the street corner.
Police Chief Robert Bill got out of the car with a sullen face, and Friedrich Karl Eberstein secretly bemoaned his luck, quickly approaching him.
