Chapter 12 - Author's machine and wrench

Earth.

Morning.

The courtyard of the headquarters near the stage.

Ray, Lex, Mike, and Riley tested the abilities of Hertz, Evie, and Deila.

They were wearing special costumes. Deila asked.

— Was it necessary to wear a superhero leotard?

Ray, who was sitting on an armchair with a clipboard, spoke up.

— First of all, this is not a leotard, but a suit with sensors made of a super material, the name of which I do not know. Secondly, yes.

Deila rolled her eyes.

— Okay, let's start earlier, finish faster.

Lex started warming up. Ray spoke.

— Easy sparring, no need to maim each other, preferably... Lex, take care of your hand.

— Yes, I got it, I got it.

Lex energized his hands. Deila sighed and turned into a snake, after which she began to crawl with great speed.

Deila, approaching, began to move in a chaotic direction and spin around Lex. The kid didn't throw himself out and waited for the moment.

Deila made a dash towards Lex. The boy lunged, but the snake immediately dodged and climbed up Lex's arm, after which it turned into a gorilla and threw him over.

The kid flew a few meters and landed gently. Lex immediately got up and charged at the gorilla.

Ray was looking at the tablet at that moment, namely Lex's indicators, and then switched to Deila's data, where a snake and a gorilla were shown, and then a rat.

Ray pushed a button on the chair's joystick and drove off to join the others.

Mike was studying with Evie, and Riley was studying with Hertz. Ray asked.

— Well, how are things with amber?

Riley is optimistic.

— Well, my motor functions are normal, my ability is working, but he says there's something wrong with my head.

— Well, it was before that. — Ray said, looking at the tablet.

— So what's here?

Mike spoke up.

— And here's the problem.

— What else?

— You see, her ability to control water...

— And?

— That's the point - to manage, not to create.

— So what's the problem? Go fill a bucket with water and bring it.

— Why did I do it right away?

— And who?

— Well, you're sitting there...

— F**k really... Let me go and get it.

— Come on. — Mike said smilingly, holding out the bucket.

Ray glared at Mike, but grabbed the bucket and jumped off the chair.

The kid barely began to hobble to the lake, which was located near the stage.

The guys were about to say something, but Ray just waved them off. Mike frowned and decided to follow.

When going down to the shore, the boy stumbled and got on his foot incorrectly, which is why he grabbed his knee. M.I.S.T.Y And appeared from the bracelet.

— The functions of the musculoskeletal system are impaired, recovery is not complete, it is recommended...

— Leave alone...

Ray went to the water and scooped out half of the bucket, then looked at the reflection, where waves were coming from the blurred head.

Ray sighed, then threw the bucket towards the stage, from where at the same moment Mike's knock and displeased voice were heard.

Ray fell on his back and closed his eyes. M.I.S.T.Y And reactivated.

— It is recommended to find a more comfortable position...

Ray sounded tired.

— Shut up already...

Day.

Everyone except Ray was sitting in the kitchen having lunch, while Mike was talking along the way.

— Well, in general, we broke away from the weirdos in white coats, somewhere near that cafe, and then we came to a dead end, we don't know what to do. Hertz says: "Let's make a landing and climb over," but I was crippled all over, I couldn't.

Hertz is displeased.

— What are you talking about? He was healthy, but he was exhausted, and he was afraid to climb over.

— Who are you afraid of? I would have accidentally dropped you and you would have crashed.

— So I offered to give you a lift, duben.

— Oh, why are you picking on words? Anyway, we're standing there arguing, and then the dudes come running out in their lab coats with laser guns, and the woman says: "Stand, hands behind your ass, head to your heels!"

Lex asked.

— Why were they really just in their lab coats, like pharmacists?

Deila spoke up.

— Is that the only thing that bothers you?

Riley spread her hands.

— Well, what happened next?

Mike hesitated.

— Uh-uh... Anyway, I shot the lightning and saved everyone.

Hertz objected.

— No. I took the power from you and struck with lightning and saved everyone.

— No matter what, lightning means me.

They started arguing loudly. Evie wanted to say something, but they weren't listening. Deila raised her voice.

— Are you both sclerotic?!

The guys stopped and stared at Deila.

The girl continued.

— As I was told, their squad was washed away by a wave. No one really believed it, as a result, they slapped a fine, they thought they were getting away with it. But only then they remembered about one small detail.

Mike and Hertz were surprised.

— Which one?

— Yes, this one! She's sitting on a chair, she flooded the street floor, and before that she tore up the laboratory!

Evie is quiet.

— I'm sorry, it was an accident.

— Yeah, by accident. Well, how can you "accidentally" demolish exactly that part of the laboratory that is directly connected to the experiments, injure 10 employees and escape through the main entrance?!

— Well... at first it was dark, then there were lights, something was glowing purple, I thought that the thing was not so important and took a look, but it lit up, everything buzzed. I got worried and ran away, it was open there.

Mike spoke up.

— Holy shit, but we went through the sewers when the alarm was announced.

Deila frowned.

— And the main thing is to clean everything for me.

Riley became more active.

— Oh, by the way, you still haven't told me why you worked for the pharmacist.

Lex with his mouth full.

— Mgm... Come on, come on, because your backstory is still the most normal.

Dayla sighed, but began to speak.

— In short, one day my sister and I were playing in the sandbox, and then... I don't remember exactly, but everything seemed magical and something like that. In general, the adults got worried, fenced off from each other, and a certain scientist became interested in me, who offered to help me study this shit, and then you already know...

Riley spoke up.

— So you're looking for a sister?

Deila nodded.

Lex spoke up.

— Good luck, what else can I say.

Mike with a smile.

— It's funny that we figured it out like this without fighting and fuss, but calmly discussed everything and everyone believes everyone.

Everyone was delighted. At the same moment, Ray rushed in on a chair.

Mike spoke up.

— Oh, and this one rolled in.

Ray threw a stack of unfolded comics on the table, turning the plates over.

— Guys, I know how to get the other guys back.

Everyone looked at Ray.

— Well, okay, not to return, but at least to find and contact.

— Tell me already. Lex was saying.

— M.I.S.T.Y And print the hologram.

— It will be done.

A light flashed from the center of the table and a hologram of the mechanism appeared in the form of a ball.

— What's that?

— Cerebro-machines.

Everyone continued to look at Ray, waiting for a further answer.

— This is a machine from Glory comics, which increases psychic abilities, with the help of it we will be able to contact anyone on this planet, and ideally outside of this dimension.

Deila asked.

— Wait, wait, so your friends disappeared in other dimensions, you almost got killed yourself, and your plan is to find a computer from a children's magazine? Is this always the case with you?

— Firstly, the magazine is not a children's magazine, but a 12+ magazine. Secondly... Well, yes, it worked last time. Thirdly, the car will have to be assembled manually...

— F**p up. — Deila said, but in the middle there was a beeping from M.I.S.T.Y.

Deila looked up, and Ray asked.

— Hey, M.I.S.T.Y., what was that right now?

— Age restriction of obscene language, automatic censorship is enabled.

Lex spoke up.

— Turn off this f**king thing.

— Automatic censorship is disabled.

Ray hit the table with his hand.

— We need this machine! Who's with me to save the isekayers?

Everyone shouted in the affirmative except for Deila, who showed her displeasure, but the girl still sluggishly agreed.

— But first we'll go to the Observatory and your bakery center.

— It's a deal, it's really called something else, but that's not the point!

Mike asked.

— And how do you feel by the way, because you were tired this morning, and now...

— Huh? Oh, don't worry, I didn't sleep well, I just had a cup of coffee and it was like a cucumber.

Riley asked.

— How many mugs?

— Mugs? A whole thermos... according to Runo recipe. Tasty... Okay, pack up and go ahead.

The street near the observatory.

The guys stopped by a cafe in their car.

Ray spoke.

— Okay, there's security everywhere, we can't get through without Glory, and if they notice us, we'll have to go through the sewers.

Mike spoke up.

— What's that again?

Deila spoke in the form of a cat.

— So you're the agents yourself, show your passes and they'll let you in.

— You can do that.

— And Hercyl and I will make our way through the bottom. They might not let you in.

Hercyl's disapproving voice was heard from somewhere behind.

Hercyl and Deila, in the form of rats, ran across the ground, and then through the sewers. At that time, the guys entered the observatory through the open gate with their heads held high.

The rats ran through the tunnel, then climbed into the basement of the building and got into the toilet.

At that time, the guys were also confidently walking towards the guards, passing by the truck.

The rodents slipped past the workers and went out into the corridor, in the direction of the room with the portal.

The guys on the street approached the security guard and Ray handed over a purple pass with a smile.

At that time, the rats found themselves in a room with a portal, in which there was nothing left except concrete and a couple of dangling wires. Hercyl went inside until Dale received a signal from Mike.

— Hello, can you hear the Rescue rangers?

— Yes, what do you have there?

— Well, in short, they won't let us in.

— How's that?

At that time, Ray and Lex were arguing with the guards upstairs.

—How's that? It's a purple pass!

— Yes. — Lex echoed.

A guard in a helmet and with a baton in his hands.

— To get into this sector, you need a Scarlet pass level...

— What the fuck is a Scarlet pass?! What the fuck are you doing?!

— Quiet, quiet Ray. I'll decide now. — Lex said, and then stood in front of the guard.

— What kind of pass is there, huh? We almost kicked our skates off here...

The guard immediately interrupted the kid.

— That's exactly why the Scarlet security clearance is.

Mike spoke up at that time.

— Well, it's in a nutshell, without a mate.

Deila sighed.

— Figure it out for yourself, we'll take something here.

Deila went into the room and started rummaging through the ruins.

An hour passed.

Dayla spoke up.

— There's nothing here at all.

— Yeah, just concrete and concrete...

Hertz turned into a man. A pebble glowed next to him. Hertz grunted.

— You didn't say that your back hurts after the transformation.

Deila, in the form of a rat, ran up to Hertz with the words.

— Come on, turn around again.

— Are you kidding me?

— No, there's something like a portal, maybe a fragment or a particle.

Hertz turned back into a rat, and light broke through from the concrete. Dayla started digging.

Through the mud and stones, she found a small crystal the size of a coin, from which a faint multicolored light was drained.

Hertz spoke up.

— What is this?

— I have no idea, but it will definitely come in handy. Maybe there's more?

The area near the observatory.

Deila and Hertz came to the car with the box. Evie was waiting for them there.

Hertz opened the trunk and put down the instrument box.

Evie asked.

— What's in the box?

Hertz began sorting through the instruments.

— Just like that, the tools are different. A scanner, a plasma cutter, a disk with a computer virus, a memory eraser, a cube of luck, a crystal from the portal, a portable portal, a working portable portal and... a couple of cool potions. What about you?

Evie pointed at the truck with the metal. The guys were standing nearby, and Lex shouted.

— Hey! Everything is fine, now it's ours!

Dayla spoke up.

— What is it?

— He and the guards agreed on the materials.

— It doesn't look like it.

— And this is garbage, the guards said that this is the last thing left of the portal, so they quickly agreed to give it back, throw it away anyway.

— It's great...

Lex's joyful cry could be heard in the distance.

The courtyard near the stage.

The truck unloaded the trash and the guys got to work. Lex and Hertz were dragging large metal plates to the garage of the bus, where it was decided to make an extension.

Ray cut out the shapes with a plasma cutter, and Riley leveled the plates with glasses and holograms while Mike soldered them.

Deila and Evie were standing next to the toolbox and Ray at that time. Evie was handed a wrench.

They stood for a long time and looked at Ray, who first said the name of the instrument, at that moment Evie held out a wrench, but Ray, without even waiting for a second, took the instrument out of the drawer himself.

After waiting for 15 minutes, Deila rolled her eyes and left, Evie first looked at each other, then carefully put down the wrench and quickly disappeared from the construction site.

Deila dragged two chaise longues and a small table to the stage, and she placed a pitcher with a green drink and two glasses on the table.

Deila and Evie were lounging on deck chairs, sipping a drink.

It's been 2 hours.

The guys have almost finished the exterior cladding of the car. By this time, Deila had brought the TV.

Evening.

It began to get dark. The guys were already running electricity inside. Hertz went downstairs to create the device, and Lex, passing by, sat down next to it and started watching TV.

Night.

Everyone went to bed, except for Hertz and Deila and Evie, who were helping the kid make a helmet for connecting to the car.

Deila, as expected, fell asleep at the table, holding a notebook with notes in her hands. Evie, with a wrench, also closed her eyes.

By this time, Hertz had already secured the portal fragment to his helmet and adjusted the sensors.

After looking at the calculations and writing down new ones, he turned on the helmet and the fragment lit up. Hertz looked at the monitor and happily recorded the new data.

Morning.

The guys have already gathered in the finished room.

Mike put the helmet on Ray while Hertz connected the wires. Ray asked.

— How safe is this thing?

Hertz thought about it.

— I don't remember, but I wrote it down in my notebook.

Deila took out her notebook and looked at the notes.

— What a terrible handwriting you have... 18% chance of melting the brain.

Ray exhaled. Riley looked at the notebook.

— Isn't she upside down?

Deila looked at the notebook and turned it over.

— Indeed... 81%

— Stop, let's redo it.

— It's too late, Lex, turn it on! — Lex pulled a lever next to the entrance.

Hertz pressed a button on the dashboard.

The large wall-sized screen turned on.

The fragment of the portal lit up and Lex plunged into virtual reality.

A dot appeared on the screen.

Deila asked.

— Is this it?

Hertz spoke up.

— It looks like it...

The message "Scan 0%" appeared on the screen

— Maybe not...

Lex spoke up.

— And what else should we wait for now?

The text on the screen changed. "1% scan"

Mike suggested it.

— How about a coffee?

Everyone agreed and went to breakfast.

The guys dragged a table, sat down and started having breakfast right inside.

It has been flashing on the screen for a long time.

"99% scan"

Lex, holding the mug with a bandaged hand, went to the dashboard and started looking for something.

At that moment, Evie appeared next to him and held out a wrench with a smile.

Lex smiled back, took the key, and slammed it on the dashboard.

The label changed to "Scan completed".

Lex smiled and threw the wrench away.

Evie frowned at Lex and left.

The guys finally waited for the scan.

A thousand different lights appeared on the screen, which began to replace each other.

Lex asked.

— What's this?

Mike spoke up.

— Apparently, Lex scanned all the people and started looking for ours, checking everyone.

Everyone looked at Mike.

— What? I read the comics.

Suddenly, a red label with the words "Black hole" appeared on the screen.

Lex spoke up.

— Look, it's here, you bastard!

7 dots appeared next to it.

— And here we are... Wait a minute.

Hertz pointed to the corner of the screen.

— That doesn't give a shit, but what the f**k is that?
