The more updates about this plan and Jacks own plans as well the more this feeling grew. The end goal for Moxxi here was causing Jack to fail to accomplish anything but Jacks goal was very different. He was after some vault he found readings of on the moon and the laser was merely a pet project of his that the lost legion had stolen. He wanted it back of course since it was a powerful tool to have and expensive to boot but it wasn't vital I believe.-
His plan had roughly four steps to follow, get help finding the vault, get army to fight off lost legion, recover the laser and finally open up the vault to claim the prize within. He had in his mind gotten one of those done when he reached out to Moxxi in her Concordia bar location. He wasn't aware of the upcoming betrayal for some reason though which made me question whether or not he really was the one behind the angel since she spied on us through our echoes. It was possible I suppose that she simply stopped since our parts in their plans were over.-
Whatever the case Jack and his chosen "vault hunters" had obtained a military grade A.I and were in the process of taking it to a facility where a prototype bot capable of Digistructing other bots near endlessly was located. Once it was operational he'd get his army to fight off the lost legion which was step two of his plan. This prototype bot intrigued me a bit as it truly was a good idea for quickly building up an army. Something that would be particularly important for me coming up when I took over Atlas.-
I couldn't get the full picture of what was going on from Pandora but I assumed I was getting enough to roughly see how this was playing out. I should point out that this entire event was taking place within a single days time. It was fast paced to say the least. The "vault hunters" were damned good as they moved almost as fast as my friends and I would have from one mini goal to the next. The Claptraps performance in particular pleased me greatly as it proved my idea of how potentially powerful the bots could be with the right programming and adjustments in place.-
That said it was also clear that the bot was a strong personality to say the least. All the annoying flaws of the normal Claptrap units in one that had enough skill and combat power to kill small armies of bandits with minor dings did not make a humble bot at all. By comparison my Atlas was SO much better. He was polite and helpful with enough firepower to level a small city before he ran out of ammo. Even then he could throw punches and kicks that could shatter steel so he wouldn't be defenseless.-
Finally the time came for Moxxi to bring her plot to fruition as Jacks new army pushed back against the lost legion with overwhelming numbers alongside the "vault hunters". The legion was more skilled and powerful but the bots were simply too plentiful. For every bot they dismantled another took it's place while the same could not be said for them. Soon enough Colonel Zarpedon made a last stand to stop the "vault hunters" from reclaiming the laser before it's work of destroying the moon was done. She failed predictably and they took the laser back stopping it's firing for the first time in many hours.-
This was where Moxxi betrayed Jack by feeding him wrong information about the engineering data for the laser to reset it. Instead she caused it to overload uncontrollably and explode almost killing Jack and the "vault hunters" in the process. The eye of the destroyer was totally fucked though, in pieces splattered across the station. Jack was PISSED to say the least and worryingly paranoid as he airlocked the Hyperion scientists for potential betrayal.-
'Well that's not good.' I thought with a sigh.
That feeling of mine was proven true as Moxxi had just crossed someone who had a literal fucking army at his disposal and now a reason to use it on her. Even a blind man could see how this was going to go.
'She did it to herself so i'm not helping when this shit goes tits up.' I thought shaking my head and watching how it played out.
I lost my window into Jacks side of things but apparently Moxxi wasn't done and once Jack started to make a move on the vault on Elpis sent Lil to stop him from getting the reward.-
A couple hours later I learned from Lil that she broke whatever the prize was into Jacks face before dipping. I knew this matter wasn't over though as Jack was still alive and more powerful than ever. It was a hell of a show though and alleviated my listlessness a bit. Still with the show over I chose to try my hand had making me a bot spawner like the sort Jack now had. The Eridians didn't use Digistruct technology so that route would require me to reinvent the tech Jack had but they had something close enough. -
In truth it was just a mix of the food fabricator and spawner techs that turned ambient energy into fully constructed forms. I couldn't use it to get an infinite stock of Eridian metal or Eridium or the like but making simple steel and silicon bots were totally and option. The problem was that I couldn't spawn these bots in with code already uploaded to them. To circumvent this problem I simply modified the design of the bots with a signal receiver to upload the code almost immediately after they were created. It was a bit clunky looking but it worked so I that solved my armed forces problem once I took over Atlas.-
A lot of the personnel in the companies army just straight up left once Knoxx was dead so the corporation was not very well defended at all. Honestly any of the other corporations could swoop in and hostile take over the place if they wanted to at this point. Not that they would since it would be annoying to try and fix Atlas and in their opinions not worth the effort. It was worth it for me though as it would let me jump past a LOT of hoops I would have to deal with otherwise.-
Even though I'd need to rebuild the corporation from the ground up technically this wouldn't be a "new" company so a lot of legal shenanigans could be avoided. Having those bankruptcy filings revoked was going to be the biggest bitch and a half if I was being fair. There's a reason most people consider filing bankruptcy the final straw for a company after all. It was the final hail mary before you simply have no choice but to let the company fully die, a break even outcome at best.
