Continuing the sequence, Hoshino slammed the Xyz Summoned Heroic Spirit – Tamamo-no-Mae MegaMix onto the Duel Disk and activated its effect.

She retrieved the Quick-Play Spell Phantasm Summon, which had just been used to Fusion Summon Magical Girl – Tamamo-no-Mae · Illya, and set it onto the Duel Disk—recycling her Fusion resource for the third time.
Compared to HERO Fusion strategies that often trade three, four, or even five cards for a single monster, the Magical Girl one-card Fusion engine was vastly more resource-efficient.
It could truly be said that one Illya gives birth to everything. With Magical Girl – Illya searching a Quick-Play Spell upon being Summoned, combined with multiple recovery effects when cards leave the field, Hoshino had only spent two cards from her hand to reach this Xyz Summon.
And that wasn't even counting Mad Enhancement EX, which Magical Girl – Tamamo-no-Mae · Illya had searched earlier.
However, due to Phantasm Summon being limited to once per turn, even if it had been recovered, Hoshino couldn't perform another Fusion this turn.

Hoshino detached the Xyz Material MageMIX from beneath the Tamamo-no-Mae card and exchanged a glance with Tamamo on the field.

As Tamamo softly chanted, the azure mech moved into action, raising its mechanical arm as rings of rippling, water-like energy formed around it.

As the smoke cleared, Aster lowered his head, gripping his Duel Disk tightly—and laughed quietly.
