Savannah's House
"Mommy, I have come up with something," Theo said as he sat on the kitchen platform. "Yeah? What is it?" Savannah replied, while washing dishes on the other side.
"I think I should act as you, be you, and save the people in need." As he said those words, a small smile appeared on her lips. She turned her face to him and he seemed to think again.
"You sure?" she asked. "Think baby, this is not an easy task," she continued with her task.
They had just finished their dinner. Tonight was a takeout day, as Theo had called her on her way home and asked if she could bring something spicy to eat. She bought spicy fried chicken for him, the thing he loves the most. "I think I know what to do," he said.
As she turned to him with a questioning face, he immediately got off the platform and ran into his room. She wondered if he would really act like her on Friday. That would really be a surprise for her.
After finishing all the household chores and tucking Theo into bed, Savannah finally settled onto her cozy bed with some cardio books in hand. It's her usual routine to unwind with a good read before drifting off to sleep.
Just as she was getting engrossed in the pages, a faint tinkering sound grabbed her attention. With a stretch, she reached for her phone on the bedside table and unlocked it to check the message. To her surprise, it was from an unknown number.
"Hello Ms. Miller, I am Arthur, Mr Baldwin's assistant. Boss wants to meet you tomorrow at 8 pm here at the Baldwin's, so I hope you can spare some time after work." the message read.
Savannah's curiosity piqued as she wondered about the unexpected invitation.
In confusion, she stared at those texts and wondered what was going on.
She put the phone back in its place without responding and started reading her book again.
She was enjoying her book until her eyes caught sight of her bruised wrist. It was still red leaving behind a bruise.
Although it didn't hurt anymore, it made her hiss whenever she tried to do anything involving fluids. She didn't think it would disappear anytime soon. The memory of what happened at the mansion came flooding back.
The man was a complete psycho, and she hoped she would never see him again. She knew that with work came disrespect, and she felt bad going through it.
Baldwin's Mansion
After completing her tasks, Savannah settled onto the small couch positioned by the glass window, offering a serene view of the garden below. She reached for the book she had brought along, anticipating a moment of relaxation after a long day.
However, following the unsettling encounter earlier, she decided to stay put and avoid further exploration. The memory of the man with bloodshot eyes still lingered, making her hesitant to engage with anyone else in this place.
Blaze and his assistant, plus his right-hand man Arthur, arrived at the mansion around 6:30. The men at the entrance greeted him with respectful bows, and Blaze made his way inside with a determined look in his eyes. As he entered the patio, he scanned the surroundings with anticipation, but whatever he was searching for was nowhere to be found, and the sparkle in his eyes faded.
Retracing his steps from the patio, he faced his men as he questioned, "Is Ms. Miller still here?" One of his trusted men confirmed, "Yes, boss, she is inside." Without uttering another word, Blaze swiftly made his way into the mansion. Once inside, he headed upstairs to his room, vanishing from sight and leaving Arthur to wait in the living room.
Standing in front of his closet, Blaze's eyes scanned his entire collection of clothes in search of the perfect outfit for the special night ahead. After a thorough search, he found the ideal blazer at the very end of the section.
Without wasting any time, he swiftly grabbed it.
It seemed like he was also looking for something else, but it didn't take long for him to locate the black pants in another section of his wardrobe. As he got ready, he added his silver Rolex watch and black leather shoes to complete the look. Standing in front of the full-length mirror, he styled his hair slick back, opting for a more casual look for the evening. After one final glance in the mirror, he left the room.
"What time is it?" Blaze asked, glancing at the documents in his hand while seated in his study room.
"20 more minutes," Arthur replied from the small couch on the left side of the room.
Blaze appeared uneasy, despite having a watch on his wrist. He was eager for the time to pass, but it seemed to be moving slowly. His eyes shifted between the PC and the documents, feeling the impatience growing within him.
"It's time, Boss," Arthur declared, rising from the couch. Without hesitation, Blaze tossed the documents onto the wooden table and hurried out.
Observing this, Arthur was momentarily frozen in place. But he knew this was coming.
But, It was unusual for Blaze, who was known for his neatness, to leave his place in such disarray. It was clear that tonight was different for him.
Savannah was directed to the place by the same man who had always been modest with her. He didn't say much, just gave her directions. She found herself on her way to a specific area, feeling a bit unsure about why she was there. The interiors of the place were thoughtful and rich, exuding sophistication. She suddenly felt out of place, as if she didn't belong in such a grand setting.
As she walked through the giant corridor, something caught her eye. It was a portrait, possibly a family portrait. Mr. Baldwin and Blaze were there, but she couldn't place the woman sitting in the middle. She was undeniably beautiful, with an ethereal quality. Savannah couldn't help but wonder if she was Mrs. Baldwin. She hadn't seen her anywhere in the house, and the thought crossed her mind - is she still alive?
She stood in front of a giant wooden door, and it was truly massive. The lion's face carved into the wood added an intimidating touch to the already imposing entrance. The man who had given her directions had been clear - she had to open the door and not linger outside.
Taking a deep breath to steady her nerves, she finally pushed the door open.
As it creaked open, she was greeted by an unexpected sight that left her even more astonished.
