Chapter 13 - A Day of Preparations: Heinrich’s Journey to Alte Gasse

Heinrich Grindelwald-Potter walked through the cobbled streets of *Alte Gasse* in Berlin, his heart filled with anticipation. The day had finally arrived for him to gather the supplies he needed for his first year at Durmstrang Institute. This hidden street, bathed in a misty, magical aura, was where Germany's most prestigious wizarding families shopped for their magical essentials. The shops lining the alley had an old-world charm, with their dark wooden façades and runic inscriptions, whispering of ancient knowledge and powerful magic.

As Heinrich walked past the various shops, each sign and window display caught his attention: potion supplies, enchanted books, magical creatures, fine robes, and mysterious objects of power. The street was alive with people, but Heinrich remained focused. His first stop was the wand shop.

He stepped into **"Eichenlaub Zauberstäbe"**, a shop known for crafting powerful wands. The scent of polished wood and the faint hum of magic filled the air as the door creaked open. The shelves were lined with rows of carefully crafted wands, each resting in velvet-lined cases. Herr Eichenlaub, an elderly man with sharp eyes, welcomed Heinrich with a nod, sensing immediately the boy's presence.

"A wand for a wizard like you must be chosen carefully," said Herr Eichenlaub, his voice deep and thoughtful. "One that reflects not just your magic, but the path you are destined to walk."

Several wands were tried, but none seemed to fit. That was until Herr Eichenlaub brought out a wand made of dark hornbeam wood, 12 inches long, with a core of Thestral hair. The moment Heinrich held it, the room seemed to shift. The air around him grew colder, as if the very essence of power surged through his hand. It was a wand fit for someone who might one day bear the title of Dark Lord, emanating strength and confidence.

"This wand," Herr Eichenlaub said, "holds power that only those acquainted with death and darkness can truly command." Heinrich felt a deep connection to the wand. It wasn't just an instrument—it was an extension of him, ready to assist him in every challenge ahead.

Heinrich thanked Herr Eichenlaub, reaching into his pocket and placing several **Schwert** coins into the man's hand, feeling the weight of the transaction not just in his purse, but in the sense of responsibility that came with owning such a powerful wand.

Next, Heinrich made his way to **"Schneider & Sohn"**, a tailor specializing in robes for prestigious wizarding families. Inside, the tailor took his measurements with an enchanted tape measure, his fingers working quickly to adjust the fine fabric. Heinrich's new school robes would be made from deep crimson and black, with intricate golden embroidery. The robes were designed not just for warmth in the northern winters, but to showcase the dignity of his lineage. The fur-trimmed collar added a regal touch, and the Durmstrang crest would be embroidered on the right shoulder, gleaming proudly.

As the tailor completed his work, Heinrich paid with a few more **Funkel**, the coins glinting in the shop's dim light as he left with his package, knowing that his robes would reflect the grandeur expected of a Grindelwald.

Heinrich then arrived at **"Runen und Folianten"**, a bookstore renowned for its rare and powerful tomes. The shelves were stacked with books from all corners of the magical world, but Heinrich focused on his school list. He carefully selected the books needed for his first year at Durmstrang:

- *"Schatten der Magie: Eine Einführung"* (Shadows of Magic: An Introduction)

- *"Grundtechniken des Duellierens"* (Basic Duelling Techniques)

- *"Erste Schutzzauber: Grundlagen der Verteidigung"* (First Protection Charms: Basics of Defense)

- *"Grundlagen der Verwandlungen"* (Basics of Transfiguration)

The heavy tomes had a mysterious air about them, the pages seeming to pulse with ancient knowledge. Heinrich handed the shopkeeper several **Schwert** for the books, feeling the weight of the knowledge he would soon gain. Each book represented a subject that would shape his education and future, preparing him for the challenges ahead.

Moving further down the street, Heinrich entered **"Goldhorn's Magical Creatures"**, where the air buzzed with the energy of magical creatures. From owls to snakes, and even the rare raven familiar, the shop was a menagerie of mystical life. Although Heinrich was tempted by the creatures, he decided to wait until he felt truly ready to bond with one. There would be time for that, perhaps after his first year.

Before leaving, Heinrich couldn't resist stopping by **"Silberschweif Sweets"**, a famous candy shop. The store was filled with enchanted sweets: some that fizzed and popped, others that changed colors as you ate them. Heinrich's favorite had always been the *Flammkugeln*, fiery candies that warmed your insides. He purchased a few packets, paying only a few **Glimm**, a small price for the joy these sweets brought.

With all his supplies in hand—his wand, robes, books, and a few sweets for the road—Heinrich felt prepared for the journey ahead. As he left *Alte Gasse*, his mind buzzed with thoughts of what Durmstrang would hold for him. The narrow alleyway slowly faded behind him, but the power of what he had gathered today stayed with him, echoing the greatness he was destined to achieve.

His first year at Durmstrang was about to begin, and Heinrich Grindelwald-Potter was ready to step into his future.
