Chapter 7 - Little Pest

The wolves seemed more annoyed than anything. Chao Wei, for once, stopped thinking of himself as a baseball player and played as a gamer; he held no significant role in a fight against what could only be described as a pack of giant wolves. Chao picks up another rock as the Hunters jump high into the air and rain down arrows. Chao watches, picking up another rock, every time a wolf tries to bite another hunter,

"WHACK" A Qi-powered rock hit them in the eye, snout, or even mouth, perplexing the wolves; however, he stayed just far enough to obscure himself. He tossed the next rock into the air and caught it, as if testing its weight before a single word was uttered: [Fastball].

A rock found its mark just as a hunter stabbed one beast in the chest. Chao heard the whine before it fell on its side.

"One down, three to go..."

-Meanwhile, East of the village-

Our guys haven't come back from that dainty village, it's been days.

"Of course they didn't come back, those idiots most likely got themselves killed. Knowing those three, they got too greedy. Their avarice was most likely their undoing. As to how they died..." The deep voice took a pause. "Only the heavens know."

"B-Boss!" the other person jumped

"Everyone, Just got a great score! Women! Pills! Weapons too!"

"Hm...Not bad"

-Smash cut back to the hunting party-

"Massive Haul today everyone! Three Iron Bite Wolves!" One hunter said as he took out his knife.

"Good Job Kid." One taller male said, slapping Chao's back and making him stumble.

"Thanks..."

"Gotta say, you've got one hell of an arm, but you don't throw like an assassin..."

"HEY! EXTRA BOUNTY HERE!" One Hunter yells out, holding a wolf cub by its scruff, still covered in blood with its eyes closed.

Chao walked over. "One of those Wolves was pregnant." Chao Wei stated rather matter-of-factly. Then he instinctively grabbed the wolf cub.

"Little guy is pretty cute..." Chao said, as if looking at a puppy rather than a wolf cub.

"This is a smaller cub. It would make a ferocious companion beast."

Chao walks over to a river he can hear flowing, and washes the cub before putting it into his tunic.

"Kid, are you sure you can raise that thing? you dont exactly have a residence in our village."

"I'll be fine."

As the Hunters took the slain wolves, each held by the largest of the hunters before they walked back to the village, then the bounty was split among the hunters, including Chao Wei.

"I need to solve at least one of my problems... Can I have some of the leather? I'd like to use it."

"Sure, Kid." They tossed him a share of the pelt, bones, and meat.

When Chao Wei received his rewards, he immediately went to the village Blacksmith

"Hey! Mister!" Chao Wei got the Blacksmith's attention, but cringes because he still sounds like child.

"What can I do for ya kiddo?"

Chao cringes on the inside but also felt warm on the inside, as its been a while since someone called him "Kiddo"

"Can you make me a satchel?"

"Do you have the materials for that?"

"I have Wolf Leather"

Both of them soon heard a whine, clearly not a human whine as a small wolf cub's head sticks out of Chao's Tunic.

"Never mind, kid. Just hand me the leather, I'll be able to make that satchel for you."

"Thanks, sir." Chao handed the leather he got.

"If you can, can you make it so it fits around my waist? I want it to be a satchel that i can reach behind my back."

"I can do that, kid. Anything else?"

"A Chisel?"

"A Chisel? Come back in two days."

Chao had left the blacksmith and run toward the mines, grabbed a pickaxe, and started mining. He remembers the exact spot where he found a few spirit stone fragments.

"If I recall correctly...Spirit stones work as currency..." Chao said as he stuffed the small fragments into his small pockets

Chao sat in the cave and got into deep thought. He closed his eyes and recalled memories of his past life. Memories of his mother flashed through his mind, his throat hitched, missing her already, but that life was long gone. But then one stuck out. One from another anime, about how a kid made a basket from long leaves to hold charcoal. He needed to find long leaves. He exited the mines and went toward the nearest river he could find, using his spiral qi to power his footsteps with the little wolf still riding in his tunic.

Chao would explore and circle the village, confirming water sighting while slowly getting better at condensing the qi at his feet and dispersing it; however, not seeing a stream, he chose to go east from the village, only wanting to find reeds that grew near a river. He ran in a straight line until he heard the sound of running water, making him immediately speed up. The wolf cub howled, opening its mouth as its face took the wind from Chao's constant acceleration through using his Spiral qi through his footsteps, grinding to a halt when he finally found water. The wolf cub grunts and laps up water. Chao begins traveling upstream until he finds what he was looking for: Reeds. Reeds he could use to create a basket. it only took 10 minutes, now all he had to do was turn the long leaves into a basket, though he was failing at how to do so.

"Come on... COME ON DAMNIT!!!" Chao shouted in frustration, not able to make a basket out of reed leaves and failing miserably, but after 2 hours, he finally managed... to do the first part. He doesn't have enough leaves for the basket to fit on his back, so he made a small basket, then scooped up the wolf cub and put it back into his tunic, going down for 5 minutes, then turning west, back to Blackrock Village, where the stone gathering would begin.
