Chapter 12 – Tools and Fire

The fire was no longer a precarious novelty.

After the first successful flame, he spent days perfecting the process. He learned which woods caught more easily, which held embers longer, how to protect the fire from the wind that sometimes entered through the crack. He built a higher, more stable circle of stones. He placed a flat slab on top of some rocks to serve as an improvised cooking surface. The result was a space that, for the first time, felt deliberate. Human.

The tools also evolved.

The first stone flakes had been crude. Now he managed finer, more resistant edges. He spent hours sitting near the entrance, striking stone against stone with methodical patience. He created a larger blade for opening the animals, a smaller and more precise one for separating skin from muscle, and an improvised awl. Over time the skins were no longer just dried any which way. He stretched them on sturdy branch structures, cleaned the excess fat, and left them to cure in a more controlled manner.

The cave was changing.

There was a corner just for the skins. Another for the stored cores. A third where the dry wood was stacked. Luna watched everything with silent curiosity. Sometimes she pushed a stone with her snout or coiled her body in a way that marked a space, as if she too were participating in the organization.

Cooking became a ritual.

He was no longer content with simply roasting skewered pieces. He experimented with placing meat on the hot slab, turning it carefully. He discovered that the melted fat could be used for basting. On one especially successful afternoon he managed to brown both sides of a large piece of boar until the surface was crispy and the inside still juicy. The smell filled the cave in an almost aggressive way.

Luna approached faster than usual that day. Her intention was clear and almost childlike:

Want.

He laughed softly and offered the first piece. She took it carefully, the sharp teeth tearing the meat without waste. The blue eyes closed for a moment while she chewed. Then came an intention of pure pleasure.

Good. Hot. Good.

They ate together near the fire. He sitting, she coiled beside him, her head close to his knee. From time to time the forked tongue came out and cleaned a drop of fat that had run down his chin. The gesture was intimate in a way that no longer surprised him.

That night's lust was different.

Less urgent. Slower.

Luna did not push him immediately. She simply stayed close, head in his lap, while the fire crackled. Only when he ran his hand over the blue horns did the sexual intention arrive, soft and deep. She slid downward and opened her mouth. The cock was swallowed with deliberate slowness, the throat closing in long, lazy waves. There was no hurry. There was time.

He lay on his back, one hand on the horns, the other braced on the floor, and let her work. The long tongue wrapped, pulled, caressed. Every time he came she swallowed with a low, satisfied sound, as if drinking something precious. Then she climbed up and settled over him, the already wet hot slit finding the still-sensitive cock. He entered slowly. The rhythm was almost lazy. Deep, long thrusts, without the violence of the first days. When he came inside her, the serpent contracted around his body and remained like that, pulsing, sated.

The silence afterward was comfortable.

He looked at the ceiling of the cave, one hand stroking the white skin without thinking. The tools were lined up near the wall. The fire still had embers. The skins swayed slightly with the current of air.

For the first time since he had been reincarnated, life no longer felt like mere survival.

It felt like construction.

Luna adjusted her head on his chest. The intention that arrived was simple and warm:

Here.

He closed his eyes and replied mentally, without effort:

Here.
