Chapter 438 - Chapter 439 : The Main Family and Branch Family on the Moon!!

[Toneri is a descendant of Ōtsutsuki Hamura.]

[As a member of the branch family of the Ōtsutsuki clan, Toneri's origin must be traced back to his ancestors.]

[We already discussed this during the Kaguya arc. Interested viewers can go back and check it out.]

[Now, I'll give a brief overview of the journey of Ōtsutsuki Toneri.]

[So, back in some god-knows-when era, No.1 Filial Son—the Sage of Six Paths (Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo)—and his younger brother, No.2 Filial Son—Ōtsutsuki Hamura—sealed their own mother, Kaguya, up in the cosmos using the Six Paths: Chibaku Tensei and turned her into a moon-like sphere. Afterward, Ōtsutsuki Hamura led his clan to the moon to guard the Gedo Statue, but he also left one bloodline on the Earth to continue. That bloodline eventually became the Hyuga clan.]

"Tch, so the Hyuga clan really are Hamura's descendants, huh."

In the timeline of the Third Hokage, Jiraiya clicked his tongue while stroking his chin.

They had only ever speculated before—there had never been any solid evidence. Their suspicions mainly came from the fact that Hamura had the Byakugan.

But now, with the light screen confirming that the Hyuga are truly Hamura's descendants, everyone's feelings were complicated.

Just look at the other two clans descended from the Ōtsutsuki—Senju and Uchiha.

Back in the Warring States Period, both clans were undeniably powerful—whether in individual strength or clan-wide influence, they were true powerhouses.

After the rise of Uchiha Madara and Senju Hashirama, calling their clans the top two of the Warring States period was no exaggeration.

Then there was the Hyuga clan.

They were considered a great clan as well, but no matter how one looked at it, they simply couldn't compare to the Uchiha or the Senju.

In terms of ranking? Forget about the top three. Even cracking the top five would be a stretch.

Which raised an obvious question: They were all descendants of the Ōtsutsuki, so why did the Hyuga seem so... pitiful by comparison?

"Could it be that Hamura took all the elites with him to the moon, and only left the average ones behind?"

You know what? That didn't sound all that impossible.

When Orochimaru shared his discovery, the others found themselves genuinely considering it.

It did make sense, didn't it?

Hamura had taken members of his clan to the moon to guard the Gedo Statue and watch over Kaguya's seal.

If that was his mission, then taking the clan's elites with him was perfectly reasonable.

"Good thing the Hyuga don't know about this," someone said with a dry laugh. "With how proud the Main Branch is, this would devastate them. Some of them might even lose their minds."

"If we don't tell them, how would they ever know?"

"Yeah," another voice agreed. "Let's keep this to ourselves for now. No need to cause unnecessary trouble."

Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, nodded solemnly.

"Agreed. For the time being, it's best if the Hyuga clan doesn't hear a word of this."

Everyone present exchanged glances and nodded.

The decision was unanimous—this secret would remain buried.

[Hamura, who went to the moon, was just like the Sage of Six Paths—he didn't possess eternal life. After who knows how many years, he simply... died.]

[The problem wasn't so much his death. The real issue was that his so-called final instructions were given verbally—he didn't leave behind a single written record.]

[And just like that, Hamura's descendants on the moon acted as if they'd lost their minds, interpreting their ancestor's final words in completely different ways.]

[This led to the Otsutsuki clan on the moon splitting into two factions — the Main House and the Branch House.]

[Come to think of it, the Hyuga clan was the same way. No wonder — they're from the same bloodline after all, always ending up divided.]

"Uhh… So Hamura's descendants couldn't avoid splitting either?"

In the fifth Hokage's timeline, Tsunade had just calmed Naruto down, telling him not to mention any of this to Hinata for now.

But the moment she turned around, she saw that the Otsutsuki on the moon had also split into two sides.

Was this the fate of clans with shared bloodlines?

"The Hyuga clan is split?"

Naruto, who hadn't had much experience with politics, looked a little confused.

"Of course they are," Sasuke scoffed. "The Main House holds absolute power over the Branch House. If the Main House wants someone from the Branch House dead, they couldn't even resist."

Talking about the Hyuga clan — a group he never got along with — Sasuke let out a cold laugh.

Besides Neji and Hinata, he didn't have any fond feelings for anyone else in that clan.

"Think about it, Naruto. If Neji had been born into the Uchiha clan, or any other ninja clan, he would've been trained carefully and raised as a prodigy. But because he was born into the Branch House of the Hyuga, no matter how talented he is, there are techniques he's never allowed to learn."

"Then what about Neji's Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms and Rotation?"

"He learned those on his own, through his own talent. No one from the Main House taught him."

At that point, Sasuke sneered again and continued, "During the Chunin Exams, Neji's talent was exposed completely in front of the Hyuga Main House. Because of that — and thanks to Hyuga Hiashi, the clan head and Neji's uncle — Neji finally earned some recognition and was allowed to learn the more advanced Gentle Fist techniques. But as for me? I've never liked the Hyuga clan."

Before Naruto could even respond, Orochimaru suddenly spoke up.

"To be honest, I've never liked the Hyuga clan either."

"Orochimaru, what does this have to do with you?"

Orochimaru smiled, his voice slow and measured. "How does it not? I've always wanted to get my hands on a pair of Byakugan for research. But the Hyuga main family rarely set foot on the battlefield. After that guy Ao from Kirigakure managed to snatch one, they stopped going entirely. As for the branch family's Byakugan? It's utterly useless for research purposes. So tell me—how could I not dislike them?"

There was a long silence.

Everyone rolled their eyes at his reasoning.

[The branch family believed that the world created by the Sage of Six Paths had been plagued by war for a thousand years, and was ultimately a failure. They decided it should be destroyed. In simpler terms, they wanted to blow up the planet the shinobi lived on.]

[Damn, said the Ninja Planet, could you alien freaks calm down for one second?]

[Meanwhile, the main family on the moon advocated for peace.]

[Because of the disagreement, the branch family unleashed a weapon called the Tenseigan and wiped out the main family.]

[Honestly, Hyuga Hizashi could learn a thing or two from other branch families—that's how you deal with your main house.]

"They wanted to blow up our planet?"

Back in the Second Hokage's timeline, a collective gasp rose from the group as they processed what they had just heard.

Shimura Danzo scowled. "That's just insane. Way too extreme."

Sarutobi Hiruzen, ever the calm presence, added, "Honestly, this one's on Hamura. If he'd just left behind a written system or something, maybe they wouldn't have split into two factions."

A sharp voice cut in. "Damn monkey, did I say you could finish my sentence?"

Another snorted. "Scapegoat King, are you trying to take the fall for Hamura now?"

"Go to hell, Scapegoat King! Keep calling me that and I will lose it."

"As if you haven't already lost it," came the smirked reply.

"Fine. After this video's done, don't leave. Find a place. I'm going to teach you a lesson."

"Not leaving. What, you think I'm scared of you?"

Tobirama Senju sighed and shook his head, choosing to ignore his two disciples arranging a brawl in the background.

His mind was elsewhere.

The ideological battle between the main and branch Hyuga families was one thing—but what truly intrigued him was that weapon: the Tenseigan.

What exactly was it?

And how could something like that give the branch family enough power to wipe out the main house?
