Black Fang gave a single nod. Her gaze was steady on Quinlan, already expecting the portal to bloom into existence.
Behind her, Vex glanced over her shoulder. Her fiery eyes met Quinlan's calm ones, studying him for a heartbeat. Then her shoulders eased, and she let out a long exhale.
"Haaah…"
She hadn't snapped because she rejected the plan outright. No, what had set her off was the way Black Fang had spoken to her beloved. That was what made her blood boil. But seeing the measured calculation in Quinlan's eyes, the way he'd weighed every angle, she calmed.
"Break a leg," Vex said coolly to Black Fang.
Quinlan's expression shifted. His eyes darkened as he invoked [Overlord's Eyes], and at once his vision stretched beyond himself.
Cassandra's point of view replaced his own.
