A female voice came through. One word.
"Portal."
Quinlan froze. That voice… he knew it. He had only met her once, but the memory was etched into him, never to be forgotten.
Black Fang.
"…"
Without even realizing it, he gently pushed the naked Kitsara off his chest and sat upright. The foxkin, meanwhile, mumbled in dazed protest as she curled into the sheets.
"Portal."
Black Fang repeated, the exact same tone as before.
Quinlan's head was full of disbelief. He was torturing Teral while taking his lover with brutal passion, and basically, as soon as he finished, the most dangerous, most mysterious woman in his life was calling him. His brain stuttered. Nothing about this felt real.
At first, he had thought of Black Fang as nothing more than an enemy to avoid at all times. Then later, as someone he could exploit, a mighty woman who stood at the apex of the world and, if used correctly, could help his ascension from a nobody upstart to a powerful man.
