Traveling on foot really sucks. I've been walking for a few hours now, the sun has started setting, forcing me to find somewhere to sleep for the night which was quite easy since I haven't made it out of the city.
You might ask, why don't you find a vehicle? I tried but every car or truck is broken beyond belief, some are just rusted frames. I did find some bicycles but that didn't work out.
As soon as I sat on the seat, my ass proceeded to destroy the bike! I thought it was a onetime thing, maybe the bike was just that worn down. So, I tested the other bikes, I made sure they weren't broken or too worn down. But the result was the same
Seriously what the hell am I made of? Even a chair I sat in broke underneath me. I can't even walk on wooden flooring without my feet going straight through!
Getting back on track, I found a place to stay for the night. It looked like a small mansion, and luckily, the floor didn't break under me. I scavenged through the building for stuff but nothing valuable. I'll need to find a source of food soon, because I'm not sure how long my current supply can keep me fed.
I only ate once today, a protein bar yet that didn't affect my performance in walking a great distance, I don't even feel hungry. So, it's either my body is just that good and doesn't require constant food, or that protein bar is amazing and can easily feed a human for an entire day, maybe more.
I found a large bed in one of the rooms which I made mine for the night and threw myself on the bed which resulted in its legs giving out. The mattress was fine though. I pulled out a flashlight and one of my mangas to read until I realized my eyesight in the dark is amazing!
I am able to see everything so clearly as if it were still day. This made me explore the mansion even more, resulting in me finding a wine cellar.
Now, me being the responsible sixteen-year-old girl, living in a post-apocalyptic world with no living beings in sight, I did the obvious thing and opened the first bottle I got my hands on and took a swig.
"PFFFTTT!!! What the hell is this!? How could anyone drink this!?"
I learned the hard way that wine is... an acquired taste. Or at least that's what my mother told me whenever I asked her if wine tasted good.
I put the cap back on and put the bottle away. Maybe when I'm older I'll come back here, it's not that far from my hometown so I could always find this place again.
With my mood ruined, I went back to bed and slept like a rock.
NOT!
I couldn't sleep at all, no matter how long my eyes were closed, I just couldn't sleep. Was that protein bar really packed with so much energy?
Whatever the reason is, I just laid there on the bed, staring at the cracked ceiling, arms crossed behind my head.
My body is ignoring biology completely.
"Maybe I'm the first human to run on protein bars and spite... Wait, what would I even be spiting?"
Out of boredom, I just read my mangas throughout the night. I'm glad I bought such a large amount in the past.
And before I knew it, the sun had risen and I was back on the road, having gone all night without sleep yet not feeling slightly tired. I didn't even yawn.
As I walked, I noticed that there was no wildlife. The plants had pretty much overgrown all over buildings, yet why were there no animals? Not even birds in the sky?
More questions kept piling up and after a few more hours of quietly walking, I arrived at the front gate of the military base. The front gate was quite far from the actual base but thankfully not that far.
Hopefully there is someone still here, and maybe they could answer my questions.
