Chapter 10 - Chapter 9: Stalks

If one obtains a Full Bottle matching their innate attribute, a resonance occurs. This synergy causes mutual amplification between user and bottle. When the user's Danger Level reaches 7.0, the bottle itself evolves—examples include the Golden Rabbit Bottle and Silver Dragon Bottle from the records.

Long Wo had long possessed the Dragon Full Bottle. And with his current strength, even without transformation or amplification, he could take down a Smash bare-handed.

He was, for all intents and purposes, a flesh-and-blood Rider.

Just as Long Wo was enjoying the thrill of crushing monsters with his fists, up on the rooftop, BloodStalk, freshly escaped, found himself cornered by the ever-principled Night Rogue—Gentoku Himuro, who had finally caught up.

"Your escape route seems to differ from what you planned," Gentoku said coldly.

"Oops, guess I got lost," Stalk replied with a mock shrug.

"Lost, huh? You 'accidentally' disabled every surveillance camera on the way up too? Must be a real coincidence," Gentoku growled, drawing his Smoke Gun and slotting in the Bat Full Bottle.

[Bat!]

"Blood!"

[MistMatch!]

[Bat! Ba-Ba-Bat!]

[Fire!]

A flare of smoke, fireworks, and high-quality special effects. In a puff of black vapor and red flame, Night Rogue stood transformed, blade in hand.

"Return Pandora's Box to me. Now," he demanded.

"And if I say no?"

"Then I kill you, traitor!"

Their duel erupted in a flurry of steel and smoke. But from the start, it was lopsided. Stalk, restraining his true power, toyed with Night Rogue like a cat with string.

Then, the rooftop door creaked open. In walked Long Wo.

"Yo. What's the party here?"

"Where's the Smash?" Stalk raised an eyebrow.

"Flattened him. Too bad I forgot to bring a blank bottle."

"Impossible!" Night Rogue snapped. "You took down a Smash?! Untransformed?!"

While Rogue stood stunned, Stalk let out a delighted, childish laugh. "Oh, this is getting fun."

Long Wo shrugged. "Don't stop on my account. Keep fighting."

"…" Stalk blinked at him. Then at Night Rogue. Then back again. "Seriously? Are you trying to die?"

Suddenly, War Rabbit dropped in from above in Hawk-Gatling form, feathers scattering.

"Looks like I caught the climax of the episode!"

"Caught your mother's climax!" Long Wo snarled. "Do you know how awkward it is for me, an 'ordinary civilian,' to walk into this fight?!"

"Aha... well, you're the only one who could've stalled them both! I had faith!" War Rabbit replied with a sheepish smile.

"Faith my ass!" Long Wo roared. "If they hadn't turned on each other, I'd be a smear on the rooftop! And now the real question—can you beat either of them?"

"Uhh…" War Rabbit hesitated. "Didn't really think that far."

"..." x3

"Forget it, no time for strategy. Let's experiment!"

[Lion! Soujiki!]

[BestMatch!]

[Areyouready?]

"Build Up!"

[Cyclone of Mane!]

[Lion-Cleaner!]

[YEAH~]

War Rabbit dashed in—but within moments, he was overwhelmed. Two-on-one was never favorable, and both Stalk and Night Rogue were serious now.

To prevent War Rabbit's immediate death, Long Wo jumped in, intercepting Stalk deliberately—because he knew Stalk wouldn't kill him. Compared to Night Rogue's kill-or-be-killed attitude, Stalk's obsession with chaos was the safer bet.

Stalk welcomed the challenge, gleefully playing with Long Wo while analyzing his fluctuating Danger Level.

"2.7… 2.8… 2.9… Hazard Level 3.0! Hahahaha! Glorious! You're waking up!"

War Rabbit glanced over, distracted by the scream of triumph. That momentary lapse was fatal.

Night Rogue lunged—not at War Rabbit, but at Long Wo, intending to eliminate the easier target and force Stalk into retreat.

"Wanzhang!" War Rabbit shouted and dove between them.

But Stalk misread War Rabbit's sudden move as an attack on him, and without hesitation, retaliated.

The result?

War Rabbit took both attacks at once.

He was blasted from transformation, slammed into the ground, and a dozen Full Bottles scattered from his body, clattering across the rooftop.

Long Wo just sighed. It's almost a rite of passage to drop your gear in battle. Can't call yourself a Rider unless you carry half your arsenal in your coat.

Stalk glanced at the fallen bottles, but didn't touch them. He had what he wanted—Pandora's Box, now emitting a low glow.

He picked it up, turned, and disappeared.

"Stalk!!" Night Rogue growled.

But as soon as Stalk was gone, Rogue's attention shifted—toward the dozens of Full Bottles scattered across the floor.

"Don't even think about it!" Long Wo shouted, lunging.

He kicked Night Rogue square in the chest, scooped up a Lock Bottle, then handed the Dragon Full Bottle to the groaning War Rabbit.

"You're up. Use this."

War Rabbit looked dazed. "You sure? I'm wrecked."

"No choice. I'll collect the rest. You take him."

"…Fine!" War Rabbit grunted and inserted the bottle into the Build Driver.

[Dragon! Lock!]

[BestMatch!]

[Areyouready?]

"Transform!"

[The Sealed Fantasy Superstar!]

[Key-Dragon!]

[YEAH~]

A shimmering armor of white and silver enveloped him—Build Key-Dragon Form. Oddly, the Lock Bottle transformed the design into a key motif. No one questioned it. Style was secondary to survival.

"…Best Match again?" War Rabbit groaned. But as the energy surged through him, his expression shifted. The power wasn't stopping.

"…Something's wrong."

Before he could overthink it, Night Rogue charged.

One punch.

The impact knocked Night Rogue backward like a ragdoll.

"Not bad," War Rabbit muttered, rotating the crank.

[Ready? Go!]

[VortexFinish!]

[YEAH~]

Chains extended from his left arm, binding Night Rogue in place. His right hand ignited with a roaring, silver-white fireball—pure elemental force.

With one clean strike, he released it—direct hit.

Night Rogue was sent flying, skidding across the rooftop, smoke trailing from his armor.

For now, the battle was over.

But War Rabbit didn't smile. He looked down at the Dragon Bottle, still glowing.

"…Wanzhang. What was your Hazard Level again?"

Long Wo just turned away.

Because from this point on—the line between hero and monster was about to blur.
