VERSE V
He couldn't believe it, he saw it before him but chose not believe it.
Anxiety overwhelmed him, such power of disdain that only affirmed compromise.
The lovely sibling was no more, and it was that loveky sibling that made him take upon this cross, a cross of eternal doom.
Yet it was all for naught.
He just stood there, brazen in the heat of the flames.
Flames that consumed his very being.
Not divine, not demonic but yet seeks to condemn him.
He has never dabbled in such eccentric matter before, infact this was more than him.
Yet his sibling had made it her own. A manner of expertise that even he was frightened.
She was not overcome by it, nor let it spiral out of her rage, but she controlled it with precise manner that he was sure this wasn't her first time with the flames.
He has a lot of things to ask her, how the devils suddenly vanished? How she found the cave?. There was a lot of questions.
Utilizing Biao Bu, he had to make sure he renders his sister powerless.
Before asking her anything else, despite she being dehumanized- he has to paralyze her.
Alas, rage filled him for to him, he has taken upon the mantle of slavery, all for naught.
Nevertheless, he let it not seep into his charisma to ensure he takes care of her and disables the power here.
A tear escaped his eyelids, whilst he choked on the taught of it.
" Brother? Look. I finally have hope to kill the Goddess that destroyed your face and body."
Kato closed his eyes. This was not the sister that was innocent anymore, her voice had changed.
A stark sharp crescendo, it felt as if voices of multiple frequencies were overlapping to conjure one sentence, creating an unsettling harmony.
It couldn't be possession, as she had voiced out an overwhelming desire but at the same time it can.
No, there is a reason it can't. Yuki never calls him "brother" unless serious. As unscrupulous as it may seem, it was definitive conclusion.
Plus the flames seemed to burn even more, when she mentioned Goddess Amaterasu.
Then, for minimal injury and a swift takedown, he won't fully utilize battle tactics, but merge it with the tactics of the assassin.
An art of war, after all, Yuki's supernatural nature is unknown.
He has to assume the worst.
Just him using what he had suffered upon against his sister disgusts him.
He had taken upon this stance to judge his sister's new and inherent nature.
If she comes towards him for a fight, then it would confirm his suspicions for possession or her newborn trait.
" I didn't complain, when I heard Amaterasu did this to me—" The moonlight struck upon the leaves of the trees.
The waters of heaven poured down heavily, seeming to never cease.
Yet her flames burned more, as if opposing its natural enemy.
That alone, Kato had known its symbolism.
An opposition, a defiance against the laws of the world.
He could not let his heart be broken, stricken with pain that he could not bear.
" Why?. Why did you decide to do this?"
His hair was glued to his face, the rain caning his bare back.
Was it sorrow that made him this way?.
The soil has turned, mud.
Dirt being splashed from the raindrops, covered his feet and ankles.
" Why didn't you complain brother ?. Why didn't you ache? You were so complacent with the actions of a goddess , even though unjustly? " Lightning streaked across the sky, with cascading thunder raging as the aftermath.
Her voice had deepened, beguile yet felt like a tightening noose.
" I'm not you, Yuki. You know that!. I am my own person, I can't act they way you want me to. " His voice was rasp, his heart bleeding for whom he loves.
" Yet, you want me to do the same." Her sudden statement instantly caused Kato to freeze in his stance.
" Do not forget, I have seen who you are brother!."
..
She took a step forward underneath the heavy downpour.
Alas! The surrounding raindrops ceased, as if time itself stopped.
Taking more steps towards her brother, she merely wished to speak to him.
But he had taken upon a stance, that presumed he had the thought to neutralize her.
Yet, she could not put off this power. She had enabled it, and willed it with glee— being precise in her manner.
Yet, this seemed to consume her the more.
Creeping up on her, the flames could not be quenched.
Her skin being charred underneath, yet she could feel no pain.
Her mind wanting to run towards her brother, but her body restrained.
What was happening?. Her body isn't moving according to her will but to that of her desires.
Infact, as the flames raged on so did the desire.
She wasn't as smart as her brother to know what was happening here, but there is a link between her desires and this power.
Glancing through the pictures she had seen in her brother's mind, the words and text that he had written, heard and found.
There was a power in a particular book, a book that belonged to a cult.
Not just any cult, this cult harbored grief and deceit against mankind and godhood.
Like blasphemy, and so was this power.
Despite this, from the memories she had read from her brother, he never saw or observed or knows the nature of such book.
A text in a language he knew not.
Only one word which Benzaitan conveyed to her during her short possession whilst searching for a cave.
A short conversation with the goddess, had revealed the nature of her brother, deeming him as Σωτήρ,
As Savior..
But how, if he is the savior then why make him a slave. One to do the bidding of the gods?.
Yet that was not the concerning matter, what was concerning was the text in the torn cult book.
Σωτήρ.
Yet that book grimaced death, and she could feel it and she knew it.
The divine power of Hecate, which she has used to perceive his mind, was instantly repelled by the book.
Now, she carries such so. A power that repels divinity, just like the cult book of blasphemy —that has etched the name Σωτήρ in its pages.
Now, she feels no more the divinity of the gods.
It had forsaken her, completely.
She has to cancel her desires, make it cease to exist.
But it had been brewing beneath her, being produced by her seething hatred in wake of her brother's destroyed core.
Which is why she took upon the power, but even so.
There was no going back.Yes!, her inhumanity affirmed that.
Now she has to just rid herself of such longing..
Cut off between her thoughts, she was devastated and drowned in fear when she felt her brother kneel before her.
This abominable power has amplified her perception, despite her losing her ability to see.
A suppression against her, that exemplified overwhelming death.
She had felt judgement, from the flames born of this nihilism that had latched upon her.
Yet, this was ever frightful.
A thundering sound, and she was instantly overcome with heat, heat that scorched her.
She fell, not because she lost her balance....but the land, the soil beneath her feet instantly disappeared.
She felt the lands around her, had been vaporized instantly.
Was she still falling? Yes, but the land seemed not to come.
No raindrops upon her skin, her flames now being hurried, seeming to die out.
Was it because her desires are dying? Or they had been overcome by her fear?
She sensed a sharp repulsion before her, a light not definite but shapeless and cackling.
A sword?. What? Amaterasu is coming for her too after dealing with her brother?.
Wait? Where is her brother?
...
" Kato! " He heard his sister call out, her voice now rasp.
He could not speak, and once again he could not see.
How? Why? Just why?.
He felt the rain neither. Either time has paused or the rain has stopped.
Nonetheless, he was broken and he won't do it.
He has rejected it, the devious plan of the gods.
At the moment of his rejection, he was struck with what seemed like dagger upon his back.
Letting out a loud groan to ease his pain, he felt his blood trickle at his back.
The heavy clanks of iron against each other, he knew it.
Chains that burned his skin wrapped against him, binding him like a puppet.
They would force him to do it regardless, but he would resist it.
He would resis—
His plan to resist utterly failed, once again jarred by that which exhumed divinity in his presence, the divine broadsword that had been given to him.
He felt another presence near him, leaning unto him towards his ear.
" You have been given your first assignment, Σωτήρ. .."
Such soothing voice, the voice of an angel?.
His first assignment, he had already guessed it. This damn gods.
They knew exactly what they are doing. They just want to get rid off that which would make him attached to the world.
Damn them all.
" Eliminate that which shares your blood, she who has denied divinity and fallen to profanity."
Damn it, Damn it Yuki. Why did she just have to do she own thing?.
She read his mind, and saw everything he had done. Why couldn't she just adhere?
Even so, he won't do it, but if he doesn't, the angel before him will or the heavy chains upon him would act out that of which they wish.
Damn it..
What can he even do to save his sister?.
To just at least make her live?
..
As it bitter as it was, as it defied the peace and freedom he wanted for her,
It was the only way.
She has to serve the gods like he does.
The only issue is her newborn abhorrence for Amaterasu, and maybe the gods.
