Chapter 98 - Chapter 90 : The Decision Is Made

Ishida stepped back, returning to his place in the line as Nezuko quietly withdrew into the wooden box.

"Thank you, Ishida," Ubuyashiki spoke at last, his calm, almost ethereal voice cutting through the still air. "You have provided clarity where there was doubt."

Sanemi inclined his head slightly, though the tension in his voice was hard to miss. "With respect, Master… even if she resisted here, it does not change what she is. The danger remains."

Obanai's tone was just as measured, though his eyes narrowed. "Agreed. A moment's restraint does not erase instinct."

Mitsuri stepped forward slightly, her voice soft but resolute. "But we all saw her — she didn't even try to go for the blood. That's not something an ordinary demon could do."

Gyomei's deep voice rumbled in quiet contemplation. "Even the purest intent can be tested by time and hardship… we must remain vigilant."

Ubuyashiki listened without interruption, his faint smile never fading. Then, turning his gaze to Tanjiro, he spoke.

"Even after this proof offered by Ishida, your sister remains a demon. That alone means not all within the Corps will accept her. From this day forward, you must ensure she never brings harm to any human. That will be your responsibility… and your burden."

Tanjiro bowed his head deeply. "I understand, Master. I'll protect her… and I'll prove to everyone that she can be trusted."

The Master's voice remained gentle, yet there was steel beneath it. "Then prove not only her innocence, but also your own value to the Corps. Seek out and defeat one of the Twelve Kizuki. When you do, none will be able to deny you or her place among us."

Tanjiro's grip tightened on his uniform, determination burning in his eyes. "I accept."

Ubuyashiki gave a slow nod. "Then your business here is concluded, Tanjiro. You may step back."

As Tanjiro lowered himself in a bow, Shinobu's calm voice broke the silence. "If that is the case, and if Ishida does not object… may I take them both to my residence for recovery and observation?"

The Master's gaze slid to Ishida. He said nothing, his expression unreadable, offering neither agreement nor refusal.

"Very well," Ubuyashiki said with a nod. "It will be as you say."

At his signal, several Kakushi moved forward, guiding Tanjiro and one of the Kakushi carrying the wooden box showing him toward the path to the Butterfly Mansion.
