Chapter 64 - Chapter 64

Night falls, and the house is covered with blue, pink, and white balloons. Small tables are arranged with sweet and savory treats set apart. Liz and Henry are extremely anxious for everyone to arrive so they can share their double dose of good news with the family and friends who have always stood by their side.

Henry's parents arrive first. Soon after, Penne, Nick, Piter, Henry's business partner along with a few close employees—including Zoe—and some of Penne's and Liz's closest coworkers begin to arrive. They wanted everyone who was part of their lives to be there.

Zoe has recently started a relationship with Antony. It was only fair to invite her—after all, she has worked with Henry for a long time. Liz and Zoe had already talked, and everything was left in the past. Today was a day to share their immense happiness with the people they love.

Penne was extremely curious, throwing subtle hints at Liz to see if she would reveal the baby's gender—after all, she would be the godmother. Liz skillfully avoided the subject and stepped away. She later spoke quietly with Henry, who suggested they end the suspense soon.

Liz made a video call to her mother, who was with her aunt. Antony was on the phone with Zoe, and she switched to video call as well.

Liz playfully asked everyone to make their bets. The living room was filled with balloons in both blue and pink; each guest grabbed the color that matched their intuition.

"Let's see who gets it right! My family who's far away can guess from there too—just type 'boy' or 'girl,'" Liz said cheerfully.

The couple thanked all their friends for coming. They wanted to share this overwhelming happiness with them.

"Is everyone ready? Can we reveal it?"

"Wait—let's see if anyone guessed correctly first," Liz said, smiling widely at Henry.

Nick was holding two blue balloons.

"Care to explain?" Liz asked teasingly.

"I think you're having two boys…"

Liz looked at Henry, and both opened their mouths in mock surprise.

Most guests had chosen blue; others had chosen pink.

"But there are two people here—my mom and my father-in-law—who are holding one blue and one pink balloon," Liz pointed out.

"So we can say that MAYBE three people got it right."

"Nick, my mom, and my father-in-law."

"Let me explain."

"We're having TWINS. But we were only able to determine the sex of one baby—a boy. The other was hiding, and we still don't know the gender. But soon we will, and we'll announce it to all of you."

"Grandpas and grandmas… you're going to have two grandchildren at once."

Everyone became emotional at the revelation. They congratulated the couple warmly.

Liz's mother cried on the other end of the call, and Liz cried along with her. They ended the call saying they would talk more the next day.

Henry's parents embraced the couple and said they were overjoyed. They couldn't wait to hold their grandchildren in their arms. Since it was getting late, they said their goodbyes and left, taking Dona Ema with them. Liz and Henry thanked her for helping on such short notice.

Penne and Nick hugged their friends, saying how happy they were for them.

"I just gained two nephews," Penne joked, "and one of them is already my godson."

"You already have your godson confirmed," Liz said to Penne and Nick, then added more seriously, "I'm really going to need you now, my friend. I'll have to reduce my hours at the office and bring more work home. Doctor's orders. I'll also be starting swimming and walking. My appointments will now be every two weeks."

"Of course I'll help in any way I can," Penne replied, hugging her tightly. "I want your entire pregnancy to be calm and healthy."

Zoe came over to congratulate them and said she was very happy for the couple. Then she told Liz that Antony had asked her to be his girlfriend.

Liz smiled warmly. "I'm really happy for you. Antony is very responsible and takes everything seriously. If he asked you to be his girlfriend, it's because he truly cares about you. Don't hurt him."

Zoe replied that she was also really growing fond of him. The two women embraced.

Piter came to congratulate them as well, saying he was thrilled for his friends and that he would be a great uncle to the children.

Liz and Henry exchanged smiles, and Liz then asked Piter:

"Would you accept being the godfather of the second baby? It would make us so happy."

He looked stunned.

"Are you serious? I'm going to have my first godchild? Of course I accept."

"You've been my friends for many years," he continued. "I promise to always be present for my godson—or goddaughter. And my balloon was pink. I thought it would be a girl."

"Well… who knows?" Henry said, shaking his friend's hand before pulling him into a hug. Piter then hugged Liz as well, saying how honored he felt by the invitation. He returned to the others to share in the excitement.

Henry wrapped his arms around his wife, looked into her eyes, and said he loved her deeply and couldn't be happier.

She kissed him and replied that she was just as happy and loved him just as much.

Everyone enjoyed the evening—talking, laughing, celebrating—until they eventually said their goodbyes, promising another party once they discovered the second baby's gender.

"Leave everything as it is. Dona Ema will come tomorrow to tidy up," Henry commented, already guiding Liz toward the bedroom. "You need to rest now."

They got ready for bed, because the week was not over yet, and tomorrow new commitments were waiting for them.
