I thought Lucia would be interested in the modern Japanese cityscape, but that wasn't particularly the case. Well, when I showed her internet videos she was surprised by the appearance of the capybaras, but she wasn't surprised by the videos themselves. She didn't react like a time-slipped samurai going "There are living creatures inside a box!" so maybe she's not very interested in science and technology.
Even when we boarded the train she showed no particular surprise.
Fortunately the commuting rush hour had passed, so the car was empty except for us. We sat together in a four-person box seat.
"Are we there yet?"
"Unfortunately we haven't even been traveling for 30 minutes. It takes three hours to reach Capybara Land."
"Eh?!"
Lucia opened her eyes wider than I'd ever seen. It was more surprising than when she first saw the computer.
"I can't wait…"
