Chapter 5 - Memories

Ray's eyes fluttered closed, his mind reeling from the onslaught of memories. The splitting headache that accompanied them was a dull ache, a constant presence that he could ignore. As he lay on the plush bed, visions of his past life flooded his mind, like a dam had burst, releasing a torrent of recollections.

He saw himself as Ray von Silvermist, growing up in this very mansion, surrounded by opulence and luxury. His parents, the Lord and Lady of Silvermist, were kind and loving, but Ray's lack of magical talent set him apart. In this world, magic was a fundamental part of life, a mysterious power that coursed through people's veins like blood. It was fueled by Mana, a vital energy that could be harnessed and shaped to achieve incredible feats.

Ray's memories revealed a world where magic was an integral part of everyday life. People used it to craft magnificent structures, summon fire and ice, and even strengthen their bodies. But Ray, the original owner of this body, had no talent for magic. He was an outcast, shunned by his peers and even some members of his family.

The pain of those memories still lingered, a dull ache that Ray couldn't shake. He had been so excited to discover the world of magic, only to realize that he was excluded from it. His parents and a few loyal servants had been his only solace, treating him with kindness and respect despite his lack of magical abilities. And then there was his little sister, who had looked up to him with wide eyes and a loving heart.

As the memories faded, Ray felt exhausted, his mind reeling from the revelations. He had never imagined that his past life was so intertwined with magic. The thought of being unable to wield it himself was a bitter pill to swallow. With a sigh, he closed his eyes, letting the softness of the bed envelop him.

Sleep claimed him quickly, his mind still processing the events of the day. The memories lingered, a reminder of the life he once knew and the world he was still discovering. As he drifted off, Ray wondered what other secrets his past held, and what lay ahead in this new life.

In the darkness of his mind, a spark of determination ignited. Ray vowed to explore this world, to learn more about magic and the secrets it held. He might not be able to wield it himself, but he could still uncover its mysteries and find his place in this world.

As the first light of dawn crept into the room, Ray stirred, his mind still foggy from the vivid memories that had flooded his dreams. The soft rustling of fabric and the gentle whispers of the servants as they changed his clothes and prepared his bath brought him back to the present. He lay still, allowing them to work their magic, his thoughts drifting back to the life he once knew.

As he sank into the warm waters of the bath, Ray's mind began to wander once more, reliving the moments that had defined his past. He sighed, the weight of his memories pressing down upon him. Yet, amidst the sorrow and longing, a spark of determination ignited within him. Though he may not possess the gift of magic, he vowed to utilize the skills he had honed in his previous life to protect and serve this family, who had welcomed him with open arms.

His thoughts turned to the sister he had yet to meet, a curiosity burning within him. What was she like? Did she share his love for adventure, his thirst for knowledge? The questions swirled in his mind like the eddies in the bathwater.

As he emerged from the bath, refreshed and revitalized, Ray knew that his first order of business was to visit the library. The original owner of this body had shown little interest in the world's history, but Ray was determined to learn, to understand the intricacies of this realm and its people. The servants assisted him in dressing, their efficient hands moving with a quiet precision.

With a sense of purpose, Ray made his way to the breakfast hall, the aroma of freshly baked bread and roasting meats guiding him. The warm smile of his mother, the gentle nod of his father, and the soft curtsy of the servants greeted him as he entered. Ray took his seat, his eyes scanning the array of dishes before him. The flavors danced on his palate, a symphony of tastes that left him wanting more.

As he finished his meal, Ray pushed back his chair, his mind already turning to the library and the secrets it held. With a nod to his parents, he said " Father, Mother , I'm going to the library " and excused himself, his footsteps echoing through the halls as he made his way to the hallowed halls of knowledge. The world of Silvermist was full of mysteries, and Ray was determined to unravel them, one page at a time.....
