Scyther had no psychological burden about evolution. Some Pokemon feel indifferent about evolving, while others, like Pikachu, actually dislike the idea of changing.
But battle-focused Pokemon like Scyther simply wanted to become stronger, especially after their recent fight against Giovanni's Nidoqueen.
Although they had battled for quite a long time, Scyther still felt frustrated about being defeated so decisively by Nidoqueen.
Scyther was different from Ivysaur in this regard. Ivysaur had its own stubborn pride - even when it wanted to evolve, it refused to rely on Venusaur's power to do so.
If Ivysaur was going to evolve, it had to defeat its rival first, on its own terms.
But Scyther looked at the opportunity to grow stronger that lay before it and chose not to give up. Instead, it nodded firmly to Ash, clearly showing its determination to become more powerful.
"Alright! Let's do this!" Ash smiled when he saw Scyther's resolve, then walked forward with the Metal Coat and placed it on the grass in front of his Pokemon.
"Scy!" Scyther called out softly.
Scyther slowly stepped forward, then carefully extended one of its sharp blade-arms and lightly touched the Metal Coat. The moment the two made contact, the Metal Coat on the ground suddenly began to glow with brilliant light.
The light poured into Scyther's body, wrapping the Pokemon completely in its radiant embrace. Then the Metal Coat slowly began to float up from the ground.
The floating Metal Coat gave off a beautiful golden shimmer as it drifted toward Scyther through the air.
When the Metal Coat touched Scyther's forehead, the incredibly hard metal seemed to melt instantly, flowing directly into Scyther's body like liquid mercury.
The Metal Coat appeared to dissolve into a flowing, metallic sheen that covered Scyther's entire form, making the Pokemon's body look like it had been forged from iron.
The surface gave off an impression of incredible hardness, then cracks began to appear in the metallic covering as streaks of light flickered through them.
FLASH!
The next moment, a dazzling burst of light erupted, and Ash instinctively raised his hands to shield his eyes from the brilliant glow.
After a few moments, the light gradually faded away, revealing a transformed figure standing before him.
A crimson Pokemon now stood where Scyther had been, covered in distinctive red armor that gleamed brilliantly in the sunlight.
It appeared to wear a seamless helmet on its head, with large eyes that had bright yellow pupils. Three sharp horns protruded from the top of its head, resembling a trident.
A pair of transparent, cicada-thin wings were folded beneath the red armor on its back, giving the Pokemon a sleek, technological appearance.
But the most striking feature was its arms, which had been transformed from Scyther's characteristic scythe-blades.
Its arms had now become a pair of massive pincers, each larger than the Pokemon's own head. Yellow circular patterns decorated both sides of each pincer, resembling additional eyes.
From a distance, if you didn't look carefully, it might seem like the Pokemon had three heads instead of one.
This was Scizor, Scyther's evolved form. After gaining the power of the Metal Coat, Scizor now possessed Steel-type attributes as well.
It had changed from a Bug and Flying-type Pokemon into a Bug and Steel-type Pokemon.
Its body was now encased in a hard shell that greatly improved its defense. At the same time, the pair of enormous pincers significantly increased Scizor's offensive capabilities.
Since the pincers made up one-third of Scizor's total body weight, they could easily crush rocks when closed and swung with force.
When the pincers were open, any prey caught within their grasp would never be able to escape. The crushing power of the pincers was strong enough to slice through steel bars with ease.
After evolution, Scizor's body had become much heavier than before.
However, Scizor was known by the title of "Red Bullet" for good reason.
Although its increased weight made some of Scizor's movements slower, its strength and explosive power had improved dramatically.
By relying on its stronger physique and enhanced explosive power, along with continuous jumping to build acceleration, its speed remained impressive. However, its short-distance movement speed wasn't particularly outstanding.
It was said that Scizor's acceleration ability was so remarkable that moving too quickly could cause its body to overheat, potentially melting the armor on its surface.
Therefore, Scizor had to use the rapid vibration of its wings to help cool its body and prevent overheating.
"Please take care of me from now on, Scizor!" Ash said with a smile, clenching his fist and extending it toward his newly evolved Pokemon.
"Sci!" Scizor responded enthusiastically.
After hearing Ash's words, Scizor extended one of its large pincers and gently tapped Ash's outstretched fist. When their contact was made, Ash could feel the incredible strength contained within those pincers.
Scizor looked quite excited after gaining its new power. It was obvious that the Pokemon wanted to test out its enhanced abilities immediately.
"Don't worry, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to show off your new strength!" Ash assured it, sensing Scizor's eagerness.
"Sci!" Scizor called out, understanding.
Listening to Ash's words, Scizor managed to calm its excitement somewhat. Seeing this, Ash took out Scizor's Poke Ball and recalled it for now. He glanced at his watch and decided to return to the Cerulean Gym.
Misty and her sisters were still rehearsing their performance, so there wasn't much for him to do inside. Ash released Squirtle into the Cerulean Gym's aquarium system, then took his other Pokemon outside for some training.
In their last battle against Giovanni, although Charizard had managed to hold its own, Ash knew he couldn't always rely on just one Pokemon.
After all, while Pokemon battles were often one-on-one affairs, when dealing with organizations like Team Rocket, fights rarely stayed that simple.
