After helping Tomo's family, Ash and his friends decided to focus on returning the injured baby Kangaskhan to its family. Though its wounds had healed considerably, the young Pokemon would fare better in its mother's care.
"What will we do now, darling?" Tomo's mother sobbed after Ash and his companions departed.
"Don't worry, we'll never be separated from Tomo. I have a plan..." Tomo's father gazed at his wife's tearful face, his expression suggesting he had made a significant decision.
"Really?"
"Absolutely!"
Meanwhile, Ash, Misty, and Brock journeyed across the plains with the baby Kangaskhan to reunite it with its family. There was no sign of Tomo, so they prioritized finding the young Pokemon's mother.
"How are we supposed to find this little one's mother?" Misty asked, looking confused.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Suddenly, the ground beneath them began to tremble violently. Their expressions changed as they noticed a cloud of dust rising in the distance.
"Kanga! Kanga!"
The baby Kangaskhan behind Ash grew excited, calling out repeatedly from behind Ash's backpack.
Following the sound, Ash looked ahead and spotted a large herd of Kangaskhan charging toward them. The sight was impressive, and Misty immediately grew alarmed.
"What's happening? Do they think we've hurt their baby?" she exclaimed.
"Wait, look closer!" Ash noticed something wasn't right.
Misty peered ahead and realized the Kangaskhan appeared panicked. They weren't charging at them specifically—they seemed to be fleeing from something.
"What is that thing?"
As the Kangaskhan drew nearer, a massive figure gradually emerged behind the herd, causing Misty to gasp.
"What is that?! How can a Kangaskhan be so enormous?"
Upon closer inspection, they could see it was indeed a gigantic Kangaskhan, at least two or three times larger than the normal ones.
"Look carefully—that's not a real Kangaskhan!"
Though the appearance was convincing, Ash immediately recognized it as an impostor.
Misty and Brock examined it more carefully and soon discovered the massive Kangaskhan was moving on treads—clearly a mechanical creation.
BOOM!
While they were piecing things together, a sudden explosion sounded. The mechanical Kangaskhan's mouth opened, releasing a burst of smoke followed by a black projectile that exploded in mid-air, unfurling into an enormous net.
The net descended over the fleeing herd, immediately ensnaring them. Controlled by its contracting mechanism, the Kangaskhan were immobilized instantly. Witnessing this, the baby Kangaskhan and Pikachu displayed expressions of panic. Meanwhile, the mechanical monster's mouth opened again, revealing a figure holding a tranquilizer gun and laughing maniacally.
"James!!" They immediately recognized the person standing inside the mechanical Kangaskhan. It was James from Team Rocket, who had escaped earlier.
Prepare for trouble! And make it double! To protect the world from devastation! To unite all peoples within our nation! To denounce the evils of truth and love!
To extend our reach to the stars above!
Jessie!
James!
Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!
Surrender now, or prepare to fight!
Meowth, that's right!
"Hahaha! This is our Plan B! You won't escape this time." James gloated as he observed the trapped Kangaskhan below. Without hesitation, he aimed his tranquilizer gun at the captured Pokemon and fired.
BANG! BANG!
Several tranquilizer darts flew toward the helpless Kangaskhan. The baby cried out in distress, but there was nothing it could do. Suddenly, a yellow blur darted forward.
"Pika-CHUUU!"
Pikachu's tail glowed with metallic energy as it executed a perfect Iron Tail, swinging it through the air like a blade. The tranquilizer darts were instantly knocked aside.
Landing gracefully on the ground, Pikachu glared angrily at the mechanical monstrosity. James was momentarily stunned before his expression twisted with rage.
"Pikachu? Damn it! You're in our way again!!" The victory had been nearly within his grasp, but Pikachu had interfered once more.
"It's fine, James. We'll just capture Pikachu too while we're at it," Jessie's voice echoed from inside the machine. She was clearly operating the mechanical Kangaskhan.
"That's right! Watch this!!" James seized the opportunity to try and capture Pikachu. He reloaded the tranquilizer gun and aimed directly at the electric mouse.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Multiple darts were fired toward Pikachu. Instinctively, Pikachu prepared to dodge, but then seemed to remember something important. Its body, which had been ready to move, remained stationary as it faced the incoming darts.
Unbeknownst to Pikachu, behind it, the largest Kangaskhan in the herd—the one without a baby in its pouch—suddenly narrowed its eyes. A childhood memory flashed through its mind, along with the image of a figure it had longed for over many years. When it had disappeared, this Kangaskhan and its mother had searched everywhere but ultimately failed to find it.
"Pika-CHUUU!"
Facing the onslaught, Pikachu unleashed another Iron Tail to deflect the darts. However, James had launched too many at once. Despite Pikachu's valiant efforts, some darts slipped past its defense and continued toward the Kangaskhan behind it.
"Squirtle, use Rapid Spin! Fraxure, use Dragon Claw!"
Ash's voice suddenly rang out from behind Pikachu as two Pokemon leapt into action simultaneously.
Squirtle withdrew into its shell and spun rapidly past Pikachu, deflecting the remaining tranquilizer darts. At the same time, Fraxure's glowing claws slashed through the air, tearing the large net to shreds and freeing the trapped Kangaskhan.
"Don't take them on alone, Pikachu! Don't worry—I'll help you protect the Kangaskhan!" Ash ran to Pikachu's side.
Squirtle and Fraxure stood firm behind them. Though they didn't fully understand the situation, they nodded resolutely to Pikachu, expressing their willingness to help.
"Pi-kachu!"
Pikachu looked at Ash and its fellow Pokemon with gratitude. Just then, another sound came from behind them.
"KANGA! KANGA!"
