Wufu and Ah Jiu went up to the private room on the second floor where Guan Chuying was waiting. Behind her stood a young man, who was her brother, Guan Chuliao.
"Wufu," Guan Chuying greeted her with a wide smile, holding Wufu's hand, and said, "It's really you. I thought I was seeing things."
"I didn't expect you to be out either." Wufu noted that she seemed energetic and her complexion was rosy, and she was willing to come out, suggesting she had moved on from that distressing engagement.
"My big brother brought me out, saying the lights today are beautiful. I didn't expect to run into you." Guan Chuying laughed.
Wufu saw the gentle-looking Guan Chuliao and curtsied, addressing him as Big Brother Guan.
Guan Chuliao returned the greeting with a smile and mentioned a few polite remarks about how his mother was also thinking of her and inviting her to visit their home sometime.
