In the darkness, this remote and quiet courtyard seemed even more silent against the distant sounds of strings and bamboo instruments.
Under this silence, two figures quietly approached one of the outhouses, and if one looked closely, they could see that both were holding knives.
One of them gestured to the other, waited for a nod, and then tiptoed closer.
His hand touched the door, quickly pushed it open, and with his other hand, he raised his knife to cut, but seeing the empty outhouse, his hand froze in mid-air.
Where is he?
He had clearly seen him enter this outhouse, so why is he gone?
The man in black looked at the doorway, then crouched down to look through the gaps at the neighboring space, puzzled as to what happened.
"What's going on?" The other person sensed something was wrong, turned to ask his companion, and was also stunned to see the empty outhouse.
