Cheng Su listened to what Qi Xiaoqi said and felt uneasy. She got up, put on a cotton robe, and walked to the living room to make a phone call.
The clock on the wall showed it was already eleven o'clock. She wondered if Qi Taiguo was in the office?
She dialed the number, and the phone kept ringing. Cheng Su felt a bit disappointed; it seemed he wasn't in the office.
Just as she sighed and was about to hang up, someone answered on the other end, and Qi Taiguo's voice came through.
"Eh, it took so long to answer the phone; I thought you weren't there!" Cheng Su said, surprised and delighted.
Qi Taiguo said, "I was just about to head back to the dormitory and had only walked ten meters when I heard the office phone ringing. If you'd hung up a bit earlier, I wouldn't have caught it."
He reopened the desk lamp, sat down, glanced at the time on his wrist, and asked, "Why are you still up so late? I heard you went to the Capital these past couple of days?"
