Situ Jiuyue was taken aback for a moment, looking towards Xue Zhao. For an instant, the girl's face seemed to redden, something unbelievable. Over the many past years, she had seemingly never shown such emotion. All the silliness and shyness that belonged to a young girl had long since been distant from her when her family was destroyed and her people were lost.
Her gaze met Xue Zhao's. The youth's eyes were clear, piercing through her, like a beam of sunlight, unstoppably shooting straight into one's heart.
Situ Jiuyue paused, then asked, "What do you mean?"
"You are my friend and you once saved my life. Back at the Duke Residence, if you hadn't treated my injuries, I might not have survived."
