Chapter 272 - He broke up with me...

The black Rolls-Royce Phantom slowed down as it stopped before the small house in the suburbs, parking itself outside.

It was early evening, and the sky was starting to turn dark as clouds were beginning to appear on the horizon.

As the chauffeur opened the back door to let his employer out of the car, Mia Ashford, clad in a blue one-piece dress that covered her voluptuous body, stepped out of the vehicle.

Then her husband got out right behind her. He wore a black suit and had short black hair that complemented his handsome features very well.

Adam looked at the house before him and said, "Well, looking at our house and comparing it to the one we just came out from, I think it's safe to say that I am definitely not cut out for being a billionaire, or a millionaire even. I prefer this home over any other, that is for sure."

"True," Mia nodded. "But if we are going to support Oliver's future life, we can't settle here, no matter how comfortable this home is to us now. I mean, as Oliver gets involved with higher classes, we cannot allow them to laugh at him for his parents staying in a mediocre place like this."

"Hmm. Guess it makes sense."

Mia chuckled at how easy it was for Adam to agree to leave their comfortable home behind for Oliver.

And if she were being honest, she loved this side of him. He always put family first over everything else.

With a warm smile, she turned back toward the house and began walking toward their front door.

Before long, Adam caught up with her and placed an arm around her waist, walking beside her.

When they arrived at the entrance, Mia pushed the door open and entered the house.

Once inside, they spotted Amara, Oliver's sister, sitting on the living room couch.

She was wearing a tight shirt that clung to her curvaceous body, highlighting every inch of her bountiful chest and slim waist.

Below, her short skirt accentuated her round hips and shapely legs.

The girl seemed to be lost in thought as she stared blankly into space, seemingly not noticing their presence.

Seeing that, Mia couldn't help but frown.

"Amara!"

Upon hearing her name being called out loudly, Amara snapped out of her daze.

She looked at her mother and father walking into the room.

"Huh? Oh, welcome back Mom, Dad." She greeted them with a smile.

But Mia wasn't fooled so easily. She knew something was bothering her daughter.

"Did something happen today?" Mia asked her as she sat next to her on the couch, placing her hand on Amara's soft cheek gently.

The gentle touch brought a small smile to Amara's face, and she answered, "Well..."

After pausing for a moment to think about what she was going to say, she decided to just speak her mind without holding anything back.

"Today, after finishing my last exam, I went to my boyfriend's place, just like usual. It was then he broke up with me..."

Amara paused for another second and swallowed hard. Then she continued talking, albeit in a low whisper that made it hard for Mia and Adam to hear her clearly.

"That's why I feel so confused right now. I just don't know what I should do. I mean, it's not like I loved him too much or anything... but I do feel kind of sad for some reason..."

"I see. So that's why..." Mia nodded sympathetically. "Amara, the only thing I can say to you is not to worry too much. What matters most in life is how much happiness you can gain from it. And if a person isn't giving you happiness, you need to let go."

"Yes, Mom," Amara agreed.

Then Adam added, "I second that, Amara. Life is too short to be spent on worrying about things that you can't change or trying to find happiness from people who aren't giving it to you."

Hearing their comforting words helped lift her spirits somewhat, and Amara found herself smiling once more as she looked up at her parents.

But just as she did so, she noticed that her mom and dad seemed to be looking like two completely different people compared to before.

Their clothes were more elegant, expensive-looking, and well-designed than she remembered.

"By the way, Mom, Dad, you two seem different today. Did you go somewhere fancy before coming back?" Amara asked them while examining their outfits.

Mia smiled at her daughter's inquisitive nature and answered, "Indeed, we did. And we are planning to take you there too."

"You mean, go on another vacation?" Amara questioned back. "That'd be fun, since I just finished my exams and I could use some time off to relax and forget about what's bugging me."

Adam shook his head. "No, not a vacation. What Mia meant is that we will be moving away. We're going to move to a mansion that your grandfather owns, and we'll live there from now on."

Amara's jaw dropped in astonishment. "What?! Grandfather's mansion?! Wait, I thought I didn't have a grandfather anymore?!"

Mia didn't hold back anything this time. She explained everything, from the inheritance that her father will be passing onto Oliver to the reason why they'll have to move.

Of course, Mia told Amara about the reason why she left her family before and never met her again after that.

When Amara heard everything that Mia had gone through back when she was a teenager, she couldn't help feeling sad and sorry for her.

However, Amara soon recovered from those negative feelings and understood that Mia didn't say that to make her feel pity.

Besides, there was something more important than that for Amara to deal with right now.

Amara faced Mia directly in the eyes and said, "Mom, Dad, since this is going to affect my life greatly too, I have a condition to make if you want me to go along with this plan."

"Sure, let's hear it, my dear." Mia gave her permission to speak what was on her mind.
