To be honest, Castle never expected that Marvin, after confirming that Andrew was beyond redemption, would quietly approach the portly journalist and have him release the information they had on Andrew's involvement in another massacre in South America to all the major media outlets.
And the mischievous portly journalist didn't even bother informing Castle before helping the erratic Marvin publish everything.
By the time Castle realized what had happened, the irrefutable evidence of Andrew's lies had already spread worldwide, with all the major news outlets presenting it to the masses.
Fortunately, even though the portly journalist and Marvin had acted so recklessly, it didn't affect the overall plan. So when Castle learned about this, he didn't say much and simply settled in at home, ready to enjoy the show.
Meanwhile, Frank, on the night the scandal exploded, had already left New York, heading to London with Marvin, Victoria, and his girlfriend, Sarah.
Speaking of Frank's girlfriend, Castle couldn't help but silently mock the situation. This man in his sixties had clearly fallen head over heels in love. Frank, swept up in this late-life romance, even brought his girlfriend, who had wanted to meet Castle, to Long Island before leaving New York. Only after getting a signed set of Castle's novels was Sarah finally satisfied enough to board the flight to London with Frank.
Frank had also left with a message from Castle. Frank realized that in Europe, he wouldn't be able to receive the same level of support and assistance as he did back home. Before his departure, he had already contacted Castle's father, Sean, who would meet him in Europe.
Upon hearing this, Castle asked Frank to pass a message along: tell Sean that Castle planned to visit Europe during Alexis' spring break and would bring her along.
After Frank and his group had poured gasoline on the already blazing fire surrounding Vice President Andrew and left New York, the scandal fully erupted. With Andrew involved in two separate massacre incidents, both of which directly contradicted his previously well-maintained image as a kind, approachable public figure, there was no way the Democratic Party could save their most promising presidential candidate.
Andrew's public image plummeted, and within just two days, his approval rating dropped to alarming levels.
At the same time, the Department of Justice, bowing to public pressure, began preparing an independent investigation into whether the vice president had indeed participated in these inhumane massacres.
Andrew's resignation was now inevitable, but there was no way he could swallow his pride after being so thoroughly set up.
On the very night Frank and the others stoked the fire, Andrew sent his people to hunt down those responsible for causing him trouble at this critical moment. However, they were too late, learning only that Frank had taken a red-eye flight to the UK on Saturday night. With no way to vent his rage, Andrew directed all his anger toward the source of this mess: Senator Charles Harn of Montana.
Determined to bring Harn down with him, Andrew, in his fury, rejected his family's suggestion to negotiate again with the Republican Party. He was hellbent on taking Harn down with him. With his approval rating at a heartbreakingly low level, his dreams of becoming president shattered, and his vice-presidential position hanging by a thread, Andrew figured that if he couldn't survive this, neither should the mastermind behind it all.
If he was going down, he'd make sure everyone went down with him!
In the following days, the situation only escalated. Even the seasoned lawmakers on Capitol Hill couldn't sit still. Castle and the portly journalist hadn't just leaked evidence to domestic media but also to international outlets like the BBC and others in countries fed up with the USA's hegemonic behavior. Given such explosive revelations, there was no way these outlets would pass up the opportunity to shame the United States.
This scandal had now become a global headline, with Vice President Andrew exposed as a bloodthirsty butcher. Castle's promise to make Andrew infamous worldwide had been fulfilled.
However, to those in the White House and on Capitol Hill, the growing global condemnation of their political system wasn't a laughing matter. In fact, the situation had become so dire that the real power players could no longer sit idly by.
But before the senators from both the Republican and Democratic parties could fully clash in Congress, an even more shocking event occurred—Senator Charles Harn of Montana was found murdered in his secluded mountain cabin. His staff and bodyguards were all killed, and the entire scene was burned to the ground, erasing all traces.
Everyone believed that Andrew was behind it, and no matter how much he denied it, no one believed him.
In truth, Andrew wasn't responsible for Harn's death. The assassination had been carried out by Bob Lee Swagger, with Castle's financial and intelligence backing.
After leaving New York and realizing how badly the situation had escalated for Charles Harn, who had fled to Montana, Bob saw his chance for revenge. With Castle's approval, Bob had no hesitation in launching his revenge mission.
The country's attention was entirely focused on Andrew, and everyone knew about the deep-seated grudge between Andrew and Harn. So why not seize this perfect opportunity for revenge?
After securing Castle's support, the world's deadliest sniper began his mission of retribution. Harn, panicking after Andrew's scandal broke, returned to Montana, believing that he would be safer in his home state. However, little did Harn know that Bob was tracking his every move.
When Bob discovered that Harn had arranged a secret meeting at a secluded mountain cabin, armed to the teeth with weapons supplied by Castle's Continental Hotel connections, he moved in. Confident there were no traps set for him, Bob struck.
Once he started, Bob showed no mercy. He wiped out Harn, his associates, staff, and bodyguards, piling their bodies inside the cabin and setting it ablaze. After completing his mission, he calmly drove off, heading back to New York. With his revenge complete, Bob felt it was time to start a new chapter in life. His dog had already arrived at Castle's Long Island estate, and he was looking forward to reuniting with Sam. With vengeance behind him, Bob could finally look to the future.
However, Bob's actions led to even greater misfortune for Andrew. Everyone assumed that Andrew, harboring deep hatred for Harn, had ordered the assassination. In politics, using assassination to settle disputes was a taboo, a line no one dared to cross. With Andrew accused of violating this unwritten rule, even the Democrats who had considered supporting him quickly distanced themselves.
Abandoned by Congress and even his own family, Andrew was completely isolated.
In the shortest time possible, Congress impeached Vice President Andrew. Shortly afterward, a task force led by the attorney general placed Andrew under arrest, launching an investigation into his alleged involvement in the murder of Senator Charles Harn.
For the Capitol Hill elites, Andrew's participation in two foreign massacres wasn't a major concern. After all, he hadn't killed American citizens. Who cared how many Africans died? But the death of Senator Harn was different. Everyone knew about the grudge between Andrew and Harn, so it was easy to pin the murder on Andrew.
What made matters worse for Andrew was that, on the day after the incident, he had actually issued orders to his men to retaliate against Harn! He hadn't even had a chance to act on those orders before Harn was killed!
Now, Andrew was in a situation where he had no way to defend himself. He truly had been planning to go after Harn, but someone else had beaten him to it.
Recognizing that Andrew had become uncontrollable, the power brokers on Capitol Hill couldn't let this situation continue. If they allowed political disputes to escalate to the level of assassination, it would set a dangerous precedent. Who could say the same thing wouldn't happen to them one day?
This couldn't be allowed to stand.
And so, Andrew's downfall was sealed. Even his own family gave up on him.
The public watched in astonishment as Congress swiftly impeached Vice President Andrew, and shortly thereafter, the attorney general's investigation team took him into custody, beginning a full investigation into the murder of Senator Charles Harn.
