The wedding reception carried the masquerade theme into magic. Guests danced in masks, the music filling the hall. The chandeliers sparkled overhead, and waiters carried trays of champagne and delicate hors d'oeuvres. A string quartet played softly until the DJ took over, and then the hall came alive with rhythm.
But the best moment of the night was their first dance.
Hunter led Delilah onto the floor as the lights dimmed, leaving a soft golden glow above them. He leaned close, his forehead resting against hers. "Take off the mask," he whispered.
She did, slipping it away, revealing her glowing face. He removed his own. Now it was just the two of them, bare and open before the crowd.
As the music played, they swayed slowly. Hunter kissed her forehead, her cheek, then finally her lips. "I love you, Mrs. Quinn," he murmured against her mouth.
Delilah laughed softly, tears in her eyes. "I love you too, Mr. Sterling," she joked, making him laugh.
