Gordon's surprised words halted Mia's movements instantly. The joy on her face slowly faded, gradually replaced by a trace of panic.
She stood up abruptly, retreated several steps, and looked at the gift box on the floor with eyes filled with terror.
It seemed she now finally remembered the lesson from Annabelle.
"I clearly bought a Western cowboy puppet. How did it turn into this thing?" Gordon's baffled voice continued.
"Damn it! It must have been that chatty sales clerk who packed the wrong item! I'll go find him right now and get it exchanged."
Gordon, a hint of anger on his face, turned to pick up the lid of the gift box, intending to cover the puppet again.
"Hey—wait! If you cover it now and try to send it back, it won't do any good. It will still come back for you!"
Chu Feng reached out to stop Gordon's actions. He looked at the puppet, still quiet and motionless in the gift box, a strange light in his eyes.
