Carth woke up, trying to gasp for air, as he found himself in a hospital bed. Next to him was Canderous, whose face was all bruised from the previous fight. His left arm was wrapped in a cast. He had no idea how much time had past, or what had happened, but then he remembered the attack, which is when he jumped up, "Ievan!" he said, but Canderous used his one good arm to press on Carths chest before he could get up more. That is when Carth mourned in pain, as he lifted his shirt. There was a bandage on his side, that is when he remembered the bounty hunter shot him. He laid back and sighed, turning to Canderous, "How many days has it been?"
"Just three days, help arrived, but it was too late. The bounty hunter already left with Ievan. Grenn is already recovering, but he is still out. Other men that were serving in this station was either dead or critically wounded. Everyone else was ordered by the Governor to stay in their rooms for the time being"
"We have to tell the Republic what had happened" Carth continued to tell him.
Anderous shook his head, "We don't even know where he took him" Carth started to give him a smirk, motioning Canderous to reach into his jacket. He went in and found something he didn't recognize, "That is a tracking device. I gave it to our friend before I got shot" Carth stood up again, but Canderous didn't stop him. Instead, he spoke to him, telling him to stop, "You know, you should really see a nurse before you leave"
Carth nodded his head, "Can't you hear what he said. This weapon can destroy planets, I have to tell the Republic" before he could continue, Canderous stopped him. Carth thought he was going to prevent him from leaving, but that wasn't the case, "I know I can't stop you, but before you go, Revan is here"
The Republic Veteran turned around, "Revan is here?"
Canderous shook his head, "That's right, Bastila is here as well. They heard about what happened and requested they come here for the investigation"
"Alright, then I suppose we should get to it. Don't worry I can walk just fine, seems like the medics healed me just fine"
Carth changed, getting back into his uniform, Canderous followed him out without permission from the doctors. It wasn't on Canderous's face, but Carth could tell he was excited to see his Jedi friends. He was wondering what had happened since the group of the Ebon Hawk had departed. They took the elevator down, already looking through the window, they saw their friends talking to some authorities.. He saw Revan, who had his hair and beard grown out. Bastila also didn't change aside from her Jedi attire. The two had stepped down to greet their friends, who had greeted them back with a friendly gesture, "Revan, Bastila, its so good to see you again" ignoring the wounds, the Jedi all were in smiles, as its been a year since they all been together. First Revan shook arms with Carth, then squeezed hands with Canderous's good arm, as Bastila each gave them a hug. T3 was with them, and shocked Carth's leg. He looked down to greet his friend, "I missed you to buddy" he then looked up at his two friends. Carth spoke, "Its been so long, are you back for good?" he asked Revan.
Revan nodded his head, "For right now. When the Council told us about the incident, they sent us over right away"
"How is that going? Everyone is cool with you coming back?" Candeorus asked awkwardly without knowing what the reaction could be. Revan smile dropped, "Well others still don't trust me, but it looks like the council did enough to gave me the rank of Master"
Carth gave him a pat on the arm, "Congrats my friend"
Revan's slight smile came back, "Thanks, but we are here for an investigation. Can you tell us what happened?"
"Yeah, but we have to do it in the briefing room. Is there any other Republic assistance arriving?"
"No, we were the only ones that were tasked with being here" Bastila spoke up for the first time since the greeting.
"Alright, let's go, we don't want to keep Chancellor Cressa waiting" Carth brought the three of them with him to the command center, which was still undergoing repairs. Chancellor Cressa was in the form of a hologram projector. Revan could tell by walking in there were lines on his face. The stress of being Chancellor during two wars, and now this is getting to him. Duran the Ithorian Governor was also there. They turned around to acknowledge the arrival of the group.
"Good you have arrived. I was just talking to the Governor about the situation" without welcoming them Cressa jumped into the topic of conversation right away, which is something Revan also takes note of, knowing the situation is dire.
"Are we going to expect more Republic support to arrive?" Carth asked, as he started to fold his arms.
The Chancellor gave him a disappointment, as he stared at him, "I am sorry, but we cannot at the moment. We do not have the funding or resources. All the rest went to the remaining planets for our restoration project. We simply don't have enough money, there are others who we need to support"
"WE NEED IT TOO" Carth yelled. He had enough, but before he could say anything Duran cut him off, "Representative Onasi stop, I am the one that made this decision"
Carth turned to him confused, "Why?"
"Because many of the people of the planet resent the Republic. When the Sith Empire invaded, you guys didn't show up to help. There are so many protests, having the Republic to come back will make things worst"
Before Carth could respond, Revan put a hand on his shoulder, giving him a nodd. He turned his head towards the two government heads, "There was an attack on this station. Master Shan and I were sent here to investigate"
"Yes, while our facilities lieutenant is in critical condition we have found footage during the attack" Duran showed a holoprojector. This one was of the attacker. They were watching footage of him fighting the guards. Revan couldn't recognize the description, but he was putting the pieces together, as he noticed the fighting style. He could sense the force that brought him here for a few reasons, "A few days ago, I was attacked. By a bounty hunter. He was fighting a similar way as this one"
Cressa looked at him, "Do you think there is a connection?"
"I don't know, but he was here for a reason" he then looked at Carth and Canderous, "Do you know why?"
Carth spoke up, "He was after a Rakata"
"The species we found in the unknown regions?" Bastila asked.
"Yes, we were planning to take him back to Coruscant, but we were attacked. He was being targeted for a higher purpose" Carth continued to speak.
"What type?" The Chancellor asked.
"Destruction. There is a weapon that can destroy planets. He had left his home world to get away, but he ended up sacrificing himself for me" Canderous spoke in shame"
Carth turned to his superiors, "I placed a tracker. We need to find him. The fate of the galaxy, which is why I am requesting to go"
"Me too" Revan said. Bastila also volunteered himself. Canderous also offered himself up, feeling guilty about what happened. They waited for the Chancellor's answer. Cressa sighed, "Alright you have my permission. Master Revan, Master Shan, I will talk to the Jedi council, and request you and Master Shan under this assignment.
"Yes Sir" Revan said. The transmission ended from the Chancellors end, as everyone else looked at each other Carth, who stared at the Governor in disgust. They could tell he was annoyed at Duran, who had backed off on pushing for more Republic assistance. The Ithroiran looked at him back, "I am sorry Carth, but I will not allow a civil war against our people, and the Republic for only trying to help"
It seemed like he was going to strike the head of the city, but he didn't. Carth just let go of his fist, "Alright, we need to go find Ievan. I am going to pack the rest of my stuff"
"Same here" Canderous said.
Bastila looked at Revan, who in return looked at her back, "I will talk to the council"
Later that day Carth waited with Bastila with the Ebon Hawk getting ready to finish loading. Carth was inside finishing the mechanics with the ship with his one good arm. Carth offered to help, but the Mandalorian refused, wanting to be alone. He already was feeling guilty for putting the galaxy at risk with the bounty hunter taking the hostage. It had hurt his pride. T3 was up there helping, but Candeorus stayed silent, and sent the droid to work on some other part of the ship. "So it's been a while, what is new?" Carth decided to start the conversation, not having enough time earlier to chat.
"Just missions from the high council. Feels great to be back with everyone after a year"
"Must have been hard to be separate from Revan" Carth back tracked after mentioning Revan. Bastila looked at him, raising her eyebrow, "What would you mean by that?" Carth almost stuttered, "You know the bond you two share with the force"
"Force bond its called" Bastila reminded him.
"Right, how does that work anyways?" he asked her. Bastila, now looking away continued talking, "I don't know, but we don't need the bond to feel we have gotten closer. The year we were away it was tough, but we got through it. We even have our own place together"
"You seem disappointed" Carth saw the sad face of his friend.
Bastila looked at him back, "No its not that. I don't know I guess thought we would have more time together"
Before any more words could be exchanged, the door opened with Revan coming out, "Spoke to the council, they talked to the Chancellor and approved it. We can go once the ship is ready"
"Good" both Carth and Bastila smiled.
Canderous walked down the ramp, "Alright ships ready when you guys are"
Before the could go, the door opened again, it was Grenn, who had just woken up, "Onasi, I hear you are leaving"
"I placed the tracker, we are going to find who did this, I promise"
Grenn nodded his head, "Alright, good luck make sure you give him hell"
The Four went into the ship with T3 coming out after working on the hyperdrive. The droid was dancing around with excitement. Carth bent down, "Thank you T3" he smiled and looked up, "Its good to have us all back on the ship. Where is Juhani? She didn't come with you guys?"
"She is away on a peaceful mission" is what we were told. Jolee also left the Jedi again for a new journey, so its just us" Revan told him.
"Not all of us" Bastila said, "We still have Mission, and Zaalbar"
"I still keep in touch with them. They are on Nar Shadda doing the usual, we see them" Canderous suggested bringing the rest of the crew on board. Carth sighed with everyone's eyes staring at him. The planet was their way, "Fine why not? Still have to map my tracker, but Nar Shadda should be on our way. We could use everyone with this assignment" he let out a smile before going to the pilot area. Bastila joined next to the pilot's seat, so Canderous could have time to recover. The ship leaves the station, going into the air. The damage from the other day could still be seen.
"Still can't believe the Sith remnants are still here. I just spent a whole year making sure they weren't a threat" Revan said in disappointment.
Carth spoke to his friend while punching to coordinate, "Don't worry my friend, we will find and stop them. What's important is that we rescue the Rakatan, and make sure this project doesn't happen. T3 engage" the droid hit the coordinates for the planet, as the ship disappeared, going into hyperspace.
