The impact echoed through the warehouse like a thunderclap. Roberts' eyes rolled back into his head before he even hit the ground. His body went limp, collapsing onto the concrete with a heavy thud. Blood trickled from his ear, but his chest still rose and fell with shallow breaths.
Kane stood over him, panting, his body screaming in protest. The bullet wounds were already beginning to heal, but the exhaustion was overwhelming. He had pushed himself beyond his limits - locating Aurora across the city, teleporting with massive energy expenditure, fighting through multiple gunshots, and now delivering the incapacitating blow.
