I stood frozen, unable to move, as the abyss stretched endlessly around me. The once faint whispers of the figure had now grown into a deafening roar, its voice echoing in my mind, no longer a whisper but a demand.
"It is time."
I felt a strange sensation, as though my very soul was being torn in two. Part of me wanted to resist, to fight against the overwhelming pull of the darkness that seemed to be consuming every ounce of my being. But there was no strength left in me. The hunger, the desire, the need to understand—it had all reached its climax. I could no longer fight it. I didn't even want to.
In the distance, the faint glow flickered again. It pulsed rhythmically, as though calling me, pulling me toward it. The closer I moved, the stronger the force became. My feet dragged through the empty space as though I were wading through water, a thick, suffocating presence surrounding me from all sides.
And then, as I neared the center of the void, something began to emerge from the dark. At first, it was a mere shape, a silhouette, but as it took form, the world around me shifted.
It was a door—no, a portal—its surface covered in symbols and markings that seemed to pulse with an ancient power. The air around it hummed with energy, vibrating in a way that made my skin crawl.
The portal was alive. It was not simply a passage to another place; it was a living, breathing entity. And it had been waiting for me.
My hand trembled as I reached toward it, instinctively drawn to the symbols etched into its surface. The moment my fingers made contact with the portal, an electric shock coursed through my body. It felt as if the entire universe had momentarily paused, holding its breath. I could hear the faint whispers again—voices, too numerous to count, speaking in tongues I couldn't understand. But there was something in the way they spoke, something that felt familiar.
I closed my eyes, focusing on the energy that was swirling around me, suffocating me, driving me toward this moment. I knew now what I had to do. The truth had been revealed. The darkness was not something to fear—it was something to embrace.
"Open the gate," a voice whispered inside my mind, the words now clearer than ever before.
I didn't hesitate. I pressed my palm flat against the portal, and in that instant, the symbols began to shift, rearranging themselves in a pattern I could almost recognize. There was no going back now.
The air around me crackled with power, and with a force I could not have predicted, the portal ripped open before me. A blinding light poured from within, momentarily blinding me, but I didn't look away. I couldn't. The light beckoned me, its pull stronger than any force I had ever felt.
As I stepped forward, the light enveloped me, and I felt my body being torn apart and rebuilt. My mind exploded with visions of the past—memories, faces, emotions I had long buried—all flooding back in a rush. But they were different now. They were clearer, sharper, and more real than ever before.
I saw myself as a child, innocent and curious, yet always with a strange darkness behind my eyes. I saw the faces of those I had hurt—the animals, the people—each one a reflection of my own twisted desires. I saw my father's face again, but this time it wasn't a figure in the shadows. It was a real memory, his eyes filled with pride.
And then, something else began to form in my mind—something new, something terrifying.
A figure, taller than anything I had ever seen, cloaked in darkness. Its face was hidden, but I could feel its presence, looming over me, watching me. It whispered my name.
"Psychobi."
The voice was not like the others—it was deep, resonating from the core of the universe itself. It was the voice of something ancient, something beyond comprehension.
"You have opened the door," it said, its voice reverberating through my entire being. "Now, you will become what you were always meant to be."
I felt a surge of power, a force so strong that it threatened to consume me entirely. The hunger inside me flared, feeding off the energy that flowed from the portal, and for the first time, I realized that I had become something more than human. I had crossed a threshold that could not be undone.
And yet, in the depths of my mind, a part of me—the part that was once human—screamed in terror.
But it didn't matter. There was no going back. The truth had been unlocked. The darkness was no longer a choice—it was who I was.
The figure in the shadows moved closer, its form shifting and changing, until it was no longer a mere presence. It was a reflection of me, a darker version of myself, a twisted mirror image that grinned with knowing malice.
"Embrace it, Psychobi," it whispered. "Embrace your destiny."
And so, I did.
The light from the portal consumed everything. The world around me disappeared, leaving only the darkness. And in that darkness, I was reborn.
