Chapter 244 Tavern Meal
While waiting for Ren, the group enjoyed their meal. Aleshia had a dish that included large pieces of meat on bones, garnished with herbs. It definitely wasn't the beautifully presented food she had seen in the campus cafeteria, but it was fulfilling despite its plain appearance. After Em finished her meal of bread, soup, and meat, she still seemed unsatisfied, furtively looking at Daniel, asking for more. Meanwhile, Daniel was still working on his meat, cutting it into pieces. He had quite a bit left to finish.
Aleshia was not far behind Em, her appetite seemingly insatiable as she devoured the chunks of meat still left on her plate. The portion sizes at this restaurant were enormous. Aleshia guessed that Daniel had discovered this wondrous place, and judging by the size of the meat served, it must be affordable. Another reason she noticed was that many young adventurers were eagerly enjoying their hefty servings of meat.
After waiting in the tavern for a while and drinking some water, Ren finally entered. The door swung open, and a girl in a grimy cloak stepped inside. She approached their table and picked a plate. Aleshia was about to greet her, but then she realized how hungry she must be. None of the others at the table struck up a conversation as Ren picked up a slab of meat and started to eat. Aleshia returned to her meal and continued eating in silence, hesitantly picking up more as she discovered her appetite.
Daniel and Em were the first to ask and acknowledge Ren's presence. "Did your job go well?" Em asked considerately, timing her question for when Ren was about to swallow the food in her mouth.
"Yes, I finished the job, and I have another one lined up. I would recommend that we go to a blacksmith after this to get my gear back in shape." After speaking, Ren returned to eat the meal in front of her.
Daniel took some coins out of their reward bag and handed a portion to Ren and some to Em before finally giving some to Aleshia. Each of them received their share from the bag. Afterward, Daniel pulled out his own money bag and retrieved a few coins, saying, "I will be paying for this meal." He then left the table and approached the counter to speak with the person attending it. After a brief conversation, they exchanged coins, and Daniel returned to the table.
