Chapter 242 - Rewards

Chapter 242 Rewards

Aleshia couldn't bear to stay in the same area and decided to walk away. As she did, Daniel glanced in her direction while continuing his conversation with Neil. He kept a watchful eye on her to ensure she wouldn't hurt herself.

Aleshia occupied herself with other things; she looked at the storage and stared at the rows upon rows of monster materials—scales, teeth, skin, fur, and various other items—and was amazed by how well they looked. Her curiosity nearly got the best of her, but just as she reached out, Lucia warned her, "Hey, I can sense your intention, but don't you dare!"

"Yes, thank you," Aleshia replied mentally. Instead of reaching out to touch the materials, she continued to observe them from a distance. As she looked into the items in the chests, her eyes glimmered at the sight of a strange-looking object inside. When she leaned in closer to get a better look, she was called back, this time by Daniel. "Neil has finished harvesting the monsters. It's about time for you to return."

At his words, Aleshia stepped back, remembering why she had left, feeling apprehensive about what she might see. When she arrived, the scene was not what she had expected; the surface appeared clean, and all the harvested materials were in their respective baskets. However, as her gaze traveled further, she noticed one basket hidden away from the others. Choosing not to look any closer at it, she turned her attention back to Daniel and asked, "Where did Neil go?"

"Neil went to the back, probably tallying up the rewards for your completed quests and the materials your group brought back. We're keeping the edible meats, so that might lower the total coin we receive," Daniel relayed.

A minute later, Neil returned, and it seemed he had left his blade somewhere else, as he no longer had it with him. Instead, he carried a pouch full of clinking coins. "Here's your reward," he said, placing the pouch on the table. "Feel free to count them if you want. I'm no penny pincher, and neither should this guild be. Most guilds shouldn't be, either," Neil joked.

Daniel pulled out one of his empty pouches. After dumping the coins from the pouch on the table, he counted them and then scooped them into his worn pouch.

"You know, we can give you those coin pouches for free," Neil suggested to Daniel.

"I'm sorry, but I can't accept any more kindness. It would feel like taking advantage of this guild," Daniel answered.
