Chapter 29 - Dinner at the Granger's! Part-1

{Outside Leaky Cauldron, Charring Cross Road}

"Your mom said she would be here around 6:30?" I asked Hermione, who was also looking around the road, trying to spot the black Ford.

"Yeah, Dad will stay to close out the clinic, but most people don't come after 6." She explained, then pointed. "There, she's coming in now." She pointed out nervously.

"Don't make it so obvious." I rolled my eyes at her. "Your mom will know we did something if you wear that guilty expression on your face."

"Really," she muttered as she looked at me, "then what do I do?"

"Just don't think about it, pretend we spent the whole day studying spells, and now you are hungry or something like that," I replied.

"We did spend the whole day learning spells and studying," She muttered back.

"Except for when you were shaking like a leaf on top of me," I whispered, teasing her. I had been doing that all day, and she had slowly but surely gotten used to it a little.

"Harry!" She exclaimed, looking at me with wide eyes, but I ignored her and greeted Emma. She was wearing her office attire, although I noticed that instead of a shirt she was wearing a lot more open top today, showing off a lot more of her cleavage. "Hello, Emma. Hope you had a good day at work?"

'Is she not wearing a bra?' I thought, as I swear I saw her nipples poking out.

"A good day, yes. But clearly not as exciting as you guys," she said as she eyed Hermione's blush with curiosity.

"I'll tell you that story later, it's a fun one," I mock-whispered as I opened the shotgun door for Hermione, who slipped in quietly, glaring at me.

I grinned at the mirror in reply to Emma's questioning look, not intending to elaborate further, it was easier to imply the reason for Hermione's nervousness about an embarrassing situation than to explain what we did.

"Well, did you have fun, dear?" Emma asked Hermione as she started driving.

"Yes, we learned a few new spells, and Harry even discovered that we can use a charm that blows hot air out as a hair dryer," Hermione replied, going back to her excited self when it came to magic.

"Why did you guys need a hair dryer?" Emma asked, looking at me through the rearview mirror.

"Well, when Hermione arrived, I had just come out of the shower, since electricity goes funky with magic around. I was going to use my towel, but then Hermione arrived, and I had read about the spell." I lied, mixing in some truth.

"You should have seen her face, she was part impressed and part annoyed to be treated like a blow dryer." I grinned.

"I'm not your blow dryer." I tried to mimic Hermione's voice, which made Emma giggle as she hid her laugh behind her mouth, and Hermione reached back to swat at my raised hands.

"Stop it," she exclaimed, embarrassed and grateful that I turned the situation around after her blunder.

"Well, looks like you guys had fun," Emma replied, seeing us fooling around as she turned towards the more residential area as we started to leave the city behind. The rest of the ride passed as Hermione, one by one, told Emma about all the spells we had learned today.

...

We arrived in front of the Granger household. As we pulled up, I walked out of the car and noticed Emma walk back to the trunk and pull it open. Before she could grab the groceries, I walked over and took them off for her. "Here, let me help."

Emma looked at me, evaluating me for a moment before she replied, "Well, thank you, dear. It's nice having a young man like you around." She winked as she walked over, and Hermione quickly opened the door with her key.

I brought the groceries into the kitchen as Emma asked, "Do you like chicken, Harry?"

"Yes, Emma, I love chicken," I replied as I placed the groceries down on the counter. The Granger house wasn't as extravagant as their jobs would indicate, considering they had a private practice in London.

"Alright, why don't you two go watch some TV while I'll go freshen up before cocking dinner," Emma said as she walked away. She had hung her coat on the door, so my eyes naturally trailed her retreating figure. Her ass wasn't the biggest I had seen, but her skirt stretched tightly around it, turning her natural walk into an alluring dance.

I watched her pause just before she left the kitchen, her head turning back with a knowing look as she winked and vanished around the corner.

'I'm beginning to feel like everyone is enjoying giving me blue balls.' I adjusted my jeans, slightly regretting the decision to wear them, but I had no choice. Can't exactly pull up here in too casual an outfit.

I walked back to the living room, and Hermione was nowhere to be seen. With nothing else to do, I sat down on the sofa and looked around. The first thing I noticed was two degrees, both from the University of Birmingham, for successful completion of their dental course with Merit, addressed to Daniel and Emma Granger.

'So they were already married in college.' I thought as I moved on to look underneath. A newly framed offer letter from Oxford sat there. I walked over and saw it was addressed to Hermione, offering her a seat as a Mathematics major at one of the most famous universities in the world, at least from what I remembered.

"I told Mom and Dad not to frame it, but they didn't listen," I heard Hermione's voice from behind me, and I looked back. She had changed out of her dress and was now wearing a simple printed top and pajamas.

"You should be proud, unlike me, who had planned on not going to a University." I grinned at her as I looked at the other decorations around the living room. Several small awards were addressed to family members, from certificates acknowledging their contributions to the medical field to Hermione's medals for winning local and international olympiads.

"Why not?" She asked as she sat down on the sofa after turning on the TV.

"No money," I replied simply as I sat down beside her, looking at the ridiculously bloated TV in wonder.

'Yeah, I'm never getting used to that. I can't wait for the time to catch up to at least the 2010's.' I thought.

"Oh, sorry." She replied sheepishly.

"Don't worry about it. I'm rich now, never working a day in my life again." I grinned as I leaned back into the sofa as she rolled her eyes.

"So what do you want to watch?" She asked, reaching for the remote.

'Ehhh, I'm kind of drawing a blank here.' I thought and fell back on my usual excuse.

"Dunno, never watched TV, you choose." I offered, and after looking at my carefully blank face for a moment, Hermione turned to the TV and clicked on the buttons quite slowly.

The screen flickered as a shot of a beautiful-looking beach appeared. Although the coloring wasn't as intense as something I had personally seen on an OLED, I could appreciate the view as Hermione quickly gave me the rundown: "Okay, this show is called Wish You Were Here...? They show us various places around the world and their cultures, it looks like they are showing the Greek beaches today."

I nodded along as I looked out of the living room. Emma had walked out after changing, from an office suit to something more comfortable. She wore a simple white tank top and leggings.

While her outfit hid most of her fair body, it showed off her curves. Our eyes met as she smiled as she walked by, imprinting her image into my mind, which was way more alluring than the blue beaches of Greece.

'This is going to be troublesome.'
