Naruto possessed Wind-nature chakra.
Theoretically, many low-level Wind Release jutsu could easily fell a large tree.
Unfortunately, Naruto knew none of these jutsu!!!
Shisui left the tent, walked over to Naruto, and told him to watch and learn carefully.
Then he raised his hand. A small amount of Wind-nature chakra enveloped Shisui's palm, and he casually made a slicing motion toward the tree trunk.
A diagonal line appeared on the massive tree, one that would have taken several people to encircle. Moments later, the several-dozen-meter-tall tree came crashing down with a thunderous roar.
BOOM!!!
The fallen tree let out a deep rumble.
Since they were in the forest, the surrounding trees provided some resistance, and the ground was covered in thick grass and fallen leaves, so the falling tree didn't kick up much dust.
"W-wow... so strong."
The tree he'd struggled with for ages was felled by a simple swipe of Shisui's hand.
"That's a very basic Wind Cutter technique. The learning difficulty isn't high. Hmm..."
Shisui thought for a moment, considering he should explain in more detail. But before he could speak, Kazuki's voice came from the tent.
"Shisui, no need to explain. Because he doesn't know any Wind Release jutsu."
"Huh...?"
Shisui's eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at Naruto, as if asking:
Not a single one?
That couldn't be right. Even the most untalented ninja knew at least a few basic jutsu.
You have Wind-nature chakra, but you don't know any Wind Release jutsu? Not even one? Isn't that a bit... absurd?
"Dammit! I might not know Wind Release, but I can use other jutsu!!!"
Feeling looked down upon, Naruto's face flushed red with anger.
Kazuki chuckled, spread his hands, and casually tossed his skewer into the fire, indicating he was watching with interest.
What to do?
No Wind Release. The Rasengan is still a work in progress. Using the Rasengan to chop a tree...
Naruto quickly dismissed that idea. It wasn't very realistic for him.
"In that case, there's only this move!"
Driven to desperation, Naruto gritted his teeth, bit his thumb, and began forming hand seals.
Aside from the Summoning Jutsu, Naruto truly didn't know what other jutsu to use for chopping trees.
He couldn't very well use the Sexy Jutsu, could he? A bunch of beautiful women shaking the tree trunk?
Just imagining that scene gave him goosebumps.
Naruto felt that if he dared use the Sexy Jutsu here, Kazuki would definitely pummel him to death.
So the Summoning Jutsu was the safer bet.
Mount Myōboku.
Gamabunta, who was in the middle of a hearty dinner of bugs, looked up suspiciously. He instinctively grabbed the giant ninjatō lying beside him and slung it over his back, muttering:
"This kid... he's not in some kind of trouble, is he?"
Better to be safe and bring his weapon. Last time, he hadn't brought it and ended up getting bitten by Manda a few times.
Nowadays, whenever Gamabunta sensed the summoning, his first reaction was to grab his weapon.
BOOM!!!
A massive figure appeared in the forest, crushing several trees beneath him the moment he materialized.
The instant he appeared, Gamabunta drew his several-dozen-meter-long ninjatō, warily scanning his surroundings to prevent a sneak attack.
After being tricked by Naruto a few times, he'd developed something of a phobia.
No enemies. All clear!
After checking several times and confirming safety, Gamabunta finally relaxed, sheathed his weapon, and glared irritably at Naruto.
"Kid, do you know it's incredibly rude to interrupt someone during dinner?"
After spraying Naruto with a faceful of saliva, Gamabunta then looked toward Kazuki and gave a slight nod of acknowledgment.
He actually managed to summon Gamabunta.
Using a summoning creature to chop trees... you have to admit, Naruto is something else.
When Gamabunta found out why he'd been summoned, he'd probably feel like stomping Naruto flat.
Kazuki smiled and nodded back in response, then crossed his legs, watching the scene unfold with great interest.
"Boss, please! You have to help me! Otherwise, there's no way I can finish this task."
Naruto was self-aware enough to know that Gamabunta responded better to pleading than to demands. He immediately clasped his hands together, bowing repeatedly and begging incessantly.
"Alright, alright, I give up. What do you need me to do?"
Gamabunta didn't push Naruto too hard. Putting on airs was fine, but only to a point.
"Yay! Awesome!"
With Gamabunta agreeing to help after his desperate pleas, Naruto was overjoyed. He pointed at the trees in the forest and declared loudly:
"Gamabunta, my task is to chop down a hundred trees. They need to be the big ones. So... I'm counting on you!"
"Fine, no prob—"
Gamabunta nodded slightly in agreement, but the words died in his throat as he suddenly felt something was off. The mountain-sized toad froze in place, looking down at the gesticulating Naruto with disbelief.
"Say that again."
"?"
A metaphorical question mark appeared above Naruto's head. He scratched his head and repeated himself.
"You interrupted my dinner... just to get me to help you chop trees?!"
Gamabunta was so angry the color of his skin seemed to change. He gripped his several-dozen-meter-long sword, seriously considering slicing Naruto into pieces.
You actually thought of having me, Gamabunta, do such a thing? I rushed over thinking you were in danger, and it turns out... it was for chopping trees.
"Huh?"
Gamabunta was furious, but Naruto still hadn't grasped why he was angry. He looked up, face full of confusion, and asked:
"If you can help in battle, can't you help chop trees?"
"Of course—"
Gamabunta instinctively paused. There was no rule saying summoning creatures couldn't help chop trees.
But...
Kid, you've really done it this time.
Cursing inwardly through gritted teeth, the humiliated and enraged Gamabunta drew his massive sword and swung it at the forest. Then, with a poof and a cloud of white smoke, he vanished.
BOOM!!!
After Gamabunta's departure, a series of rumbles echoed through the forest as tree after tree came crashing down.
Now it wasn't just a hundred trees; there were several hundred. The task was over-fulfilled.
The only catch was that Naruto had thoroughly pissed off Gamabunta.
Probably from now on, Gamabunta would want nothing more to do with the brat Naruto.
"That was so cool!!"
Naruto danced with joy, though he couldn't find anyone to celebrate with since Gamabunta was already gone.
Looking at the large swath of forest now flattened, Kazuki nodded in satisfaction.
"Not bad. Task over-fulfilled. Your mission is complete. The punishment is over."
