Chapter 63 - Chapter 63

SITA

I narrowed my eyes to that statement. Orthopedists can carry out surgeries on bones, so, I don't see the need to tell me he is both a surgeon and an orthopedist.

"He can cut bones and make it regrow." He added that was enough praise for the man I was feeling soft for.

"She knows that already," Alessandro said. "We've met long before now."

"Come on, you haven't stayed that long in our country." Ambrose made faces. He hated to have Alessandro ruin his little effort to entertain me with bragging noise.

My assistant arrived with the cups and placed them on the desk. Three plastic cups with tags, fresh from the pile of supplies we came with.

"And his friend," Ambrose continued, "He is a neurosurgeon."

I feigned amazement just not to kill the vibe he wanted, but I wanted him out of the room as soon as possible, because he was killing my chances of having a moment with the man my soul desired.

"Let's drink." I reached out for the juice and shook it well before I popped it open, then, I distributed it rationally in the cups, and for the rest, I called my assistant to come take it.

Ambrose's demeanor changed this time as the girl took the juice and once again edged out of the room. I wanted to ask him how poor he was before he got lucky and started a charity organization, he earned out of through the massive donations people made for his outreaches, but I swallowed it.

"Your assistant would be the luckiest amongst her mates." He gulped what he had in his cup and rose to his feet. "Do have a nice day, you, too, but remember, no strolling, for your good."

He ambled out of the room.

"Thanks for the cookies." Said Alessandro.

I laid my cookie pie on the table and pulled my cup to my lips. I didn't fancy cookies, but had he gotten me a chocolate bar instead, I could have torn the pack and eaten every piece of it.

"You will take this pack to your friend, the neurosurgeon." I lowered my cup on the table. "And by the way, I didn't have time to ask you how you have been so far."

"I'm good." He rose to his feet. He had barely finished what was left in his cup. "I'll get going already, for lunch and preparation. You will see me when I am free, and I assume you will be too busy, too, because I saw the massive lineup out there before I came to look for you."

I didn't know what to say. I wanted him to sit and talk to me, I wanted him to finish his cookie and juice, and I wanted his lips to kiss mine.

I shook off the thought.

"Okay." I rose to my feet and spread my arms for him. "Won't you at least offer me a hug before you leave?"

I paused and turned gently, he hadn't even had time to pick the cookie I asked him to give to his friend, David Freeman.

"Sorry, I nearly…" he closed in and hugged me a bit firmly, then, he broke the hug. I felt the urge to pull him back and kiss him without his consent, but I held my feelings back. Yes, I fancy how I appear before a man I have a weak spot for, I shouldn't appear weak and desperate.

"Thanks for the cookies and the juice." He took the cookie pack on the desk. "David will be glad to have this."

He walked away and as though he knew what would happen when he left, he shut the door. I made it to the seat where he sat and sniffed his heat and his scent on the seat. It was as pleasant to my nostrils as the armpit of a man whom a woman is madly in love with.

Knock-knock!

"Who?" I stood up.

"Ma'am, you are invited to the cafeteria, food is ready," Maa announced.

"Bring mine to my room," I ordered.

"The manager chose the cafeteria for a reason, ma'am." She replied. "The last briefing would be done there."

I remembered what Ambrose said earlier, and how his face would grew pale and ugly if I failed to appear during the briefing, I took a deep breath to quench the lust that had built up in my mind, and the urge in my body.

Today is a bad hunt, tomorrow might be better.

"Okay, wait, I'm coming." I gulped what was left in my cup.

The numbers were massive, about five hundred people were in the cafeteria, but something was funny, the only sound I could hear was that of spoons doing their work.

No one was talking except Ambrose and a few charity executives who were not yet eating.

"Here she comes." Ambrose rose from his seat as I approached with my assistant. There were other personal assistants around the big table which was surrounded by the executives.

"You are almost late, but trust me, we can't have a meal without you in our midst." He ushered me to my seat, a seat next to him.

Alessandro and David were part of the table. At their side were intercontinental meals that would suit their taste, as for us, we had more of our native dishes and some French recipes we grew up eating.

"We've split the sections into five, your section will deal with distributing sanitary pads to teenage girls, and you will see to giving them as many educative words as you can, a health specialist is part of your team, she will help with the enlightenment process." He said while looking me in the face.

"That's good, though I would have preferred to attend to pregnant women and girls." I countered.

"You could have had that choice if you were here early enough," he turned to the rest of the table, "Let's eat."
