[You cannot travel to more dimensions unless the requirements are met]
[Learn a new instrument: Piano]
[Compose your own song]
[Play in a band and be recognized by ten thousand people]
Ren put his hands on his face and let out a muffled scream. "How am I supposed to join a band? Damn system, you're going against me."
......
I sighed deeply on my bed, pressing the pillow against my face. I spoke quietly: "Ugh... It's one thing to play and sing in front of strangers who I know won't judge me, but here people can make fun of me."
As I was drowning in doubts, I remembered Christina's words. "You're good, I liked your song in the subway."
I smiled. "Yeah, well, I guess I have to take it step by step. First I'll ask Oriol to teach me how to play the keyboard. A piano is way too expensive, and I have no idea how to bring one out in the middle of a fight." I laughed a little.
I checked the time and still had plenty of time to get ready, so I opened my computer first, just in case I had an email from a professor or any pending assignments on the platform. There was only a reminder message about the upcoming holidays.
When I went back to my bed to make it, I noticed the ocarina lying next to my pillow. I picked it up and set it down beside my computer monitor. Once again, I realized I couldn't use the inventory in my original world. I don't know whether to call them worlds or dimensions, but I consider this one my world.
I wonder what the Fairy Tail guys are doing right now, or the Black Clover knights. At least I know Yoh Asakura should be on his way to Izumo, to enter the cave and die in order to grow stronger. The connection between the three worlds. I thought it would be magical, but their power systems are completely different.
I wish I could get some of their magic. After showering, I finished dressing and grabbed my guitar, my wallet, my phone, and my keys.
Today was Wednesday, which meant I could drive freely around the city. Based on my license plate, I wasn't allowed to drive on Tuesdays and Fridays. Much better than the ones who got Sundays or Saturdays.
On the way to the university, nothing special happened. I played music from my phone through the car's speakers, making the ride pleasant. When I arrived, I saw Oriol already waiting for me at the entrance. We bumped fists and headed to our classroom.
As we walked, I said: "I've seen you play the keyboard for a while, and I've never asked, but could you teach me how to use it?" I didn't look at him, but I could feel him turning toward me as he answered: "Ah no, man, get your own. You already have the guitar, and now you want to steal my identity too?"
I laughed and replied: "You're an idiot. But I really would like to learn how to play the keyboard. So, what's up, will you teach me or are you going to charge me?"
He lightly punched me on the shoulder and said: "Nah, don't worry. Just buy me dinner every night and we'll call it even."
This time I bumped him with my shoulder. "I'd rather study online. I'll buy you dinner once or twice... actually, only once a week. You're too expensive."
Oriol shrugged and answered: "Meh, I'll take it. That's more than I expected to get."
When we entered Professor Requena's classroom, we noticed we had arrived early, so we went to our seats and started chatting about what had happened the night before. He said. "Hey, Ren, so how was your date yesterday with Hannah?"
I looked at him, confused. "What are you talking about? I didn't have any date with her. If anything, I talked more with Christina."
Oriol faked surprise and said: "Oh, so you're cheating. We all saw Hannah give you a kiss. Poor Christina."
I stared him straight in the eyes and said: "I know you're joking, but I'll answer anyway. Hannah kissed me on the cheek, and she did it simply as a greeting. It didn't have any romantic meaning. So stop talking nonsense. Are you planning something?"
Oriol, looking a little nervous, averted his gaze and replied without meeting my eyes: "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Yeah, sure," I simply replied.
The professor entered the classroom and greeted everyone.
Requena placed his hands on the desk and began to speak: "Alright. In our last class we talked about songwriting. How the lyrics can make people feel different things depending on how they're written or directed."
Leaving his things on the desk, he stepped to the center of the classroom and continued. "A sad lyric in an upbeat song can make us feel euphoria. A beautiful, positive lyric with a sad melody can make us feel melancholic. Angry, furious lyrics in a song with a dance rhythm can even turn it into a party song. It all depends on how we see it, or how the author wants to transmit it."
He wrote a few things on the board. Many of us began taking notes in our binders, while the professor went on explaining how much feeling we can pour into lyrics.
While I wrote, I remembered one of the missions the system gave me. To compose my own song. (But… what kind of song do I want to write? Something happy? Something angry? Something upbeat? I don't know how, but I do know I want something that can help more people… or at least more of my heroes.)
At the top of my page, I wrote: "The Rhythm of a Hero."
